what the hell with Paris embassy ??

hi everyone.

NVC send my petition to the embasy in Paris the 23 May so I called them to know if they received it by now.

the problem is they always redirect me to an awnsering machine who said that I had to call a specific phone number who is fee charged if I wanted information about visa ?for info the fees for the call is 15 € so around 19 $.

I finally called this number and a guy just told me the whole process of a K1 visa so I told him I already knew all that and that I just wanted to know if my case was there and if he knew if I'm going to get my paperwork from packet 3 soon..... his awnser was you have no paperwork to fill for that kind of visa.

I was realy  cause I absolutely know that I have to fill the forms from the packet 3 so that's bullshit.

I finaly get him to give me a fax number where I could send a fax with my questions. of course this fax number doesn't work.

I am realy wondering if I will ever know if they got my case or not.

anyone could help me on this ? maybe some advices ? that would be very nice.

I think it is a little early to panic just yet. If it was sent on the 23rd it probably took anything up to 5 days to arrive which takes you to just a couple of days ago.

If the Paris embassy is like any other then the chances are that it takes a little while for them to open the mountain of mail they receive and put it in the system to show they have received it

yes it's true it's early to panic I'm just a bit disapointed cause they didn't even ask me my case number to take a quick look I thought that wasn't realy nice. :(

here in switzerland is the same problem with the calling of the us embassy. it is very expensive and they charge per minute. once i called them, the person told me, they only know infos about visas, but themself are not people from the embassy themself. so, they got no idea about a specific case. so, what i have done then, i ve sent them a e mail, i guess u should find one on the us embassy site in the internet. i get always a response after about 3 days. and, they definitley can tell u, if they got it. so try to e mail them. it might be there already! who knows.... keep cool... i wish we where on this stage already... :(

Hi

I have been emailed the embasssy 4 times, and have no reply from them. The NVC sent me email that my case was on sent on May 23, 2006. I tracked it on DHL and the package was delivered and signed by someone at the embassy. I don't understand why it take so long to reply. I hope, I will hear something soon from them.

The only problem with email is that as far as we can find out, Paris consulate does not accept email inquiries. Which is...lovely ...to say the least.

Look to see if the consulate has a direct number, then select another option when you're on the phone and when someone answers, beg to be patched through to the visa office. If the person is nice, they'll transfer you, but you may have to come up with some kind of story i.e. "I called the switchboard 5 times and I e-mailed a few other times and no one will help me and I have an urgent issue." Eventually, you should be able to talk to someone directly (and not pay 15EU).

Maybe all of the embassies/consulates in EU nations have the same procedures -- Naples costs 15EU too if you're calling from the US and it's 2EU/minute if you're calling from within Italy <_< and the Italy switchboard is just as unhelpful lol.

good luck!
