Hello everyone ...

Just got my I-130 NOA1 ... I know it's just the first step, but it seems like a moral victory ... things are moving

My question is this ... My wife has a 5 year old daughter from a previous marriage. I filed I-130's for both of them and received seperate notices for each of them. I now want to send in the K3 right away. Should I file the same paperwork for my new step-daughter as well, in a sense, filing a K4 ... or will this happen automatically at the CVC?

Thanks ... and best wishes to all ...

Steve

The way things are now it's better to go with the CR-1/CR-2 and forget the K3/K4. Check around and you'll see why.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Thanks for the replies so far. My wife will have a document showing that she has permission from the birth father to leave Ukraine to immigrate here with her mom.

I know the 'financial' benefits of the CR1 ... and other immediate benefits when they arrive here ... however, for us, we are more concerned with getting back together as soon as possible. I see a lot of conflicting info on the timelines between the two visas. Some say the I-130 is almost as fast as the K3 ... other info shows up to a 6 month difference in processing times.

I'm going to file the K3 ... and let the two petitions ride ... and see which 'horse' wins :)

Ok plan but there will come a time when you'll need to decide whether to whip the CR1 horse or let him drop out of the race. K3 horses run to the finish line without further input from the jockey. CR1 and IR1 do not.

I liked your post :D But there really isn't anything I can do to 'speed up' (whip) the IR1 horse ... is there?

I'm just thinking about getting my family back together a.s.a.p.

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. Once the two petitions are approved and sent to NVC, the I-130 will just sit there unless you do something. The I-129F will keep running on its own. There's no way the CR1 can win the race without you whipping it through the NVC.

Check the CR1 forum for what that means.
