K3 police check

Usually it's brought along to the visa interview, unless otherwise requested.

How recent should the police/criminal background check be for K3 applicant? Should it be done before the initial petition is filed? Thanks.

Hi,

I sent mine in for the I - 130...now I'm reading that I will have to bring one to the interview. I'm not really sure what to do. I am assuming that I will have to go back and get another one done once I receive my NOA2 (I've already received my receipt for the K-3 and I -130) Does anyone else know?

Since it's not normally included in the original I-130 submission, USCIS and NVC will just assume they don't have it. Once the package arrives at NVC and it's time for the DS-230 to be sent, you could always ask them to search amongst the I-130 documents.

However, if the police clearance expires before NVC requests it, you will have to get another one anyway. At this time it would be good for you to find out for what length of time they are current before expiring to give you some idea of what to expect.
