Should be a day or so, however I recommend calling them to confirm address change.

Also US Citizen/Sponsor MUST file I-865 if they moved along with you.

Also US Citizen/Sponsor MUST file I-865 if they moved along with you.

Anyone who provides an I-864 to sponsor an immigrant needs to file an I-865 to report their change of address, this applies to sponsors and Joint sponsors.

Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address

Purpose of Form : To report a sponsor's new address and/or residence, as required by 8 U.S.C. 1183a(d )

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-865.pdf

This is required to be filed within 30 days of a sponsor's moving, it is required by law.

DHS does not want to go hunting for a sponsor in the event the sponsored alien uses means tested benefits.

Yes, but your US Citizen husband/SPONSOR/Visa Petitioner must have provided an I-864 for you to adjust status or get a CR-1 visa, IF your US/Citizen spouse MOVES, they MUST file an I-865.

Many people who move and file AR-11 neglect to understand that if their sponsor moves, their sponsor MUST report their move too, by filing an I-865

Which visa did you use to enter the USA?? CR-1 or K-Visa??

If CR-1 your Spouse had to file I-864 to NVC, your US Citizen Spouse must file I-865 when they move.

If by K-Visa and you adjusted status, your US citizen Spouse attached an I-864 to the I-485 filing.

Again the US Citizen Spouse just needs to file I-865 to report moving, another I-864 is NOT needed.

I-865 is a mailed form, no online filing.

You would never have got a green-card unless your US-Citizen/Spouse who filed the I-130 or I-129F for your visa, had not file an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) either to NVC or with Adjustment (I-485).

YOUR timeline is lacking, it would indicated what visa was used, and would have simplified the answer to your questions.

I came with I20 student visa, and i got married here, so i didn't have either CR-1 or k-visa. I have my 2 years green card now. i filed i751 in this Jan, and waiting for my 10years green card. during the waiting time of my 2 year green card, i had moved once, and i filed AR11 online only for myself. and that's was no problem. I don't really know how long it takes for USCIS to process the change of address(AR11). I just want to make sure they will process change of address before they send out my 10 yrs green card so i don't have to reorder one.

Even if you adjusted status from a student visa by marriage to a US citizen, the US citizen must file an I-864 to sponsor the green-card, any time that US citizen/Sponsor moves, they MUST file an I-865 to report that moving.

Yeah - I'm in the Change of Address nightmare also. Wish i hadn't bothered as my in-laws is where the forms are going to and we speak to them daily. I can't help but feel this is going to delay stuff.

So I changed the address on the i-485 online - do I also need to update the address on my i-765 or are they bundled? Do I need to post in the AR-11 as well as fill the one in online? God this confusing.

Also, the address on the USCIS website to send the i-865 to is different to the address on the form itself - any body got any suggestions as to which one is right?

Having just got off the phone from the USCIS they said even though I had submitted a AR-11 online I also had to submit one physical copy.

So I'd advise you to send one off to the them as well ... that's what I'm doing.

What? They said we all should send out a paper A11 in addition to the online one? that doens't make sense. Why would they provide the online version then? Now I am confused. I only did the online one.

When we moved I did the online thing for me and the paper form for spouce/sponsor and we only got confirmation regarding the sponsor form.

greetings, and thanks for sharing this experience.
