Do you mean, USEM will ask for CENOMAR from K3 and/or CR1/IR1 applicants? Wow, CENOMAR simply stands for Certificate of NO Marriage... this is basically a requirement for those who will get married...

I just want to share this, somehow there's no connection but what if the situation is like this?

I know someone who's married and got a CENOMAR saying he is not married but when you request a copy of his marriage certificate, they can provide it! (simply because, he is really legally married)...

So what if this will be the case? (honestly, I don't rely with that CENOMAR coz of this story I know) <_<

Ok, I have read here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3650.html

Document Services to Other Posts

Manila’s immigrant visa branch can assist other posts with obtaining secure official records from the National Statistics Office (NSO). This includes marriage index checks (certificate of marriage, certificate of no marriage), marriage certificates, birth certificates and death certificates. Embassy Manila will prepare the official request and it will be delivered to the NSO by our contracted courier. To cover fees charged by the NSO, the courier charges a small flat fee per person, not per document. Applicants can make payments at the courier’s service desk in Manila’s consular waiting area or by bank wire. Please contact the immigrant visa branch for more details.

If you notice, certificate of marriage is different from marriage certificate??? (since it was mentioned separately)

I'm really beginning to get confused here.

What is the definition of a marriage index? Go to e-census and the options are

1. Birth

2. Death

3. Marriage

4. CENOMAR or Certificate of No Marriage

So again what is a marriage index? Would someone please spell out in plain language. And how do we get one? If possible step by step. Thanks again.

And what is the difference between certificate of marriage and marriage certificate as being posted here? The e-census says its a marriage certificate. I requested a marriage certificate and I got a "Certificate of Marriage" from NSO. So ano ba talaga ang difference? May inang definition pa ba ang US embassy sa dokumento natin sa Pilipinas?

This no DV thing is making a lot nonsense for most of us as stated in the website. Lot of inconsistencies abound. Swerte na lang yung walang DV because they don't have to go the gruelling process of waiting for the NSO.

So, someone please explain in plain language. English or Tagalog. Maraming salamat po.

Marriage index is either certificate of marriage or certificate of no marriage...

CENOMAR is obviously for unmarried people and certificate of marriage is for married people...

What's the difference between certificate of marriage from marriage certificate?

By reading/researching, I conclude that certificate of marriage is like cenomar wherein they will just put like... This is to certify that __________ is married to ______________ on ____________.... while marriage certificate is what they used to call marriage contract wherein husband and wife plus witnesses and pastor/priest/judge signed...

^^I was also confused but upon reading and reading from the previous posts... I understand now....

^^To add, on certificate of marriage, as what they say, you will see if the person was previously married to someone else (aside from the petitioner)...

So if I request a CENOMAR, I will get this so called "certificate of marriage" because I am already married?

Yes, I will tell same thing and indicate that it's not marriage certificate but the cenomar like for someone who's married...

So how do we obtain it if that's the case? Obviously, there's nothing in the NSO site. Thanks.

There is definitely since one of a thread starters (M3lasvegas)? said that she had it with her during the interview... so meaning, you can get it from NSO though, as I've said it wasn't indicated on their website (due to not a usual document to be requested from them only to special cases like embassy requirement--IMO)

Just go to NSO and request it... like when you are requesting a BC or MC... if you're not satisfied, go and ask someone from NSO regarding this document... Actually, this what will I do-- ask NSO...

MJ3lasvegas just confirmed that it is the CENOMAR but it will indicate whether you are single or married just like what you interpreted it to be. Now we are definitely sure. No need to call NSO but already to get it online. The terms have been confusing I must admit it. It should have been Certification of Marriage. :)

Hi, from what I have understood MARRIAGE INDEX is" index of vital statistic of marriage" if you`re wanting to have certificate of marriage they will look for it in marriage index page . While a Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) may be required if a future spouse is applying for a fiancee visa in his fiancees behalf .It is a certification issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) stating that a person has not contracted marriage. It sometimes required to a Filipino National to have a CENOMAR who wish to get married in a foreign national outside the country or in the Philippine Embassy within the foreign country.I hope this helps. God bless!
