Ornaments sound fine here as well - and if someone is creative, a home made ornament can be really nice (and inexpensive for someone who is financially stressed ). I was thinking of doing something representing my 'area' but ornaments would be fine as a theme, too.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

omg, that is such a nice picture - they are so nice to send it to you - that must be so hard for you - but so nice too.

Yeah, it was really hard. I cried. They still send me pics every year. One day I'm going to surprise them and just show up.

Oh! I've made home-made ornaments! In fact, whenever we had November girls weekend at the cottage, I would make everyone do crafts! My one friend hates doing crafts so much, so it was so much fun!

I have some good ornament crafts if anyone needs an idea. lol

I love Christmas ornaments... so I would be in if we did that..

and I can't really afford a 10 to 15 dollar gift

Oh no worries Marilyn, the 10-15 dollar thing was just a guideline to not go over - not what it should cost - anything under that is just dandy!

Is this a secret ploy to get our names and addresses?

Well it's not like I could say - sell them to the highest bidder on VJ - people who might want to stalk you or anything like that...ahem

Anyhoo, Flames I see you lurking down there, say you will join the secret santa thing!

lol, probably not!!!! it is a great idea, but I have enough nick nacks as it is!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I love the idea of a Secret Santa here for us Canadian VJ'ers! Lovely idea trailmix! I'd like to suggest though that people be given an opportunity to decide what to give, and whether it's bought or handmade. Some people just don't like crafting, or don't have the time. Some people don't have the funds for buying something either, I understand that, but let's allow the giver to decide what they'd like to do. What do you think?

I like the idea as well from someone else...can't remember now who posted it, about the 3 things about themselves? It could give an idea to someone about what they might like.

I like the idea of a free-for-all - can be an ornament or anything that takes your fancy to send, a card, another type of gift, some kraft dinner!

Anyway, it will be fun.

And why is that krikit!? :hehe:

Oh and I like the idea about people posting 3 things about themselves, that would be fun just on its own!

Haha sounds like a lot of fun B)

Manche Menschen treten einem ins Herz und merken es nicht einmal
