how do we know when our petition was shipped to nvc and when its received and sent to montreal, does the uscis site update to say that or do we have to call or what?

Once you get your NOA2 you can no longer check your case status online.

You will need to call NVC. You can use the automated voice system (using your USCIS number) to see if they have received it. Or you can use the prompts to get through to an NVC operator.

what trailmix said. I am not sure which one of you are the American in this relationship, but whomever that is should get a letter as well. Some do, some don't. We got ours after we already knew that it was sitting in Montreal. :)

if you call NVC, you need to talk to an actual operator, as K-1s will not show up on the automatic system.
