hey Ladies!

Anyone know about POE thru Fort Lauderdale/ Will they take your JA food items?

Lita; if they let me through with 15lbs of ackee Evan will be fine. Plus I had about a dozen small breadfruit and a carry-on full of fry fish.

 , ok I thought Evan was crazy with his 8lbs. Ok, I am not gonna worry to much. His plane leave is 15mins and he has not called me, and when I call him it just goes into voicemail. been like that for awhile now. Its stressing me out cause I have no idea if he even made it to the airport.

You can blance and freeze the ackee and not ruin it. I brought tons of it back that way over the years.

Marlita, I've come through Miami with food items and they did not take them.

Tell him to blanche everything that must be cooked and then freeze it.

I have never heard that term before. some stuff he has cant be frozen or it ruins it.

Oh I am so sad for jennifer hudson family. I assume the boy was found dead.

Lita, they are going to ask him if he has any breadfruit, he can only bring it if it has been cooked. He will have to tell them no, if he says yes, they will search his luggage to remove it.

P.S. This was my experience as of 07/04/2008.

Ok so I'm not a cook, and the only thing I ever bring back on the plane is patty's from the shop in the airport, so what does "blanche" mean? Cuz I would love to bring back some ackee and saltfish.

You don't have to do anything with the saltfish. It's fine.

Steamed.

What is he bringing?

Oh ok, i usually bring the ackee frozen but last time i had just got it from the market so it was fresh. It held up fine. He's bringing ackee saltfish, bammy(cassava), coconut drops, country pepper, and some fruit. No breadfruit  , it out of season. Maybe some pear too.

If the breadfruit is roasted (like I did mine) they won't bother you. My experience is to tell them what you have, if you don't DECLARE it and they find it they'll take it from you and you can or WILL be fined.

Lita; they might take the peppers (unless it's in a bottle) and I'm almost 100% they'll take the pear.
