Called our once local mosque in New Jersey, and they said, that if there is a moon-sighting tomorrow, then Eid is on Wednesday... And then, they added if there is no sighting tomorrow, then Eid is on Thursday... making Ramadan 30 days.

They don't play in Jersey. B)

Salamo alikom, Eid moubarak to all.

FYI, Masjid in NYC- Astoria & Islamic Center In Manhattan (96 st)- announced that tomorrow Tuesday is Eid al fitr. I think they follow Saudia arabia.

Our Eid is 10/1 here. Hubster said last night that normally in Egypt you will find people sad at the thought of Ramadan being over. Like an old friend is leaving. He said he hasn't felt Ramadan this year in the states. That made me so sad to hear it. I told him that I am still so new that I haven't felt the feeling that he is speaking about either. Maybe next year we can come up with new traditions and have people over for dinner at our home and keep more busy.

How is everybody's else's spouse doing? Are they missing their home country during Ramadan?

My husband told me that Ramadan in Morocco is much more festive for the whole month than it is here. Everyone is super nice to everyone, and after breaking the fast, everyone heads to the medina to see their friends, sort of a carnival atmosphere. They even had big soccer tournaments during Ramadan. So the impression I get is it's sort of like a month-long after-dark festival with a whole lot of goodwill toward others and a lot more fancy cooking than we've done this month.

This is his second Ramadan here. He hasn't expressed a lot of homesickness, although he'd like to spend part of Ramadan back in Morocco one day. This year, his work schedule has been so crazy that neither of us has been able to do everything we wanted to. The month seemed to go very quickly.

Kamal don't seem to care about celebrating or anything. Um I wonder if its because he is away from Morocco or what? But I have a surprise for him tomorrow, I plan on making some B'stilla (noura's rec.) and i am baking today. Nothing moroccan that way. I need to try things one at a time instead of over-whelming myself!
