It would be nice if they asked us but they don't.................although, if there are special circumstances-you can ask for a specific date. They may not give it to you-but you can ask ;)

Mine is at the Vancouver consulate and I thought I had heard other people say that they gave them a preference. I have vacation booked for a week in June and a week in July. Just my luck to have my interview in one of those two weeks. They sent out my Packet #3 to me yesterday so by the end of next week I'll be mailing my checklist and the DS230 back. How long till they send me the letter with interview date on it??? Does anyone know???

Thanks again.

Just so you know, Vancouver requests that you fax the DS-230 and the checklist. It speeds things up thats for sure. I faxed my DS-230 on a weekend (so they didn't get it till monday) and then I faxed my checklist the next day on tuesday. Two days later I had the a Interview letter in the mail. I didn't have a choice on the interview date although I didn't have a problem with the date they gave me so I didn't have the need to try to change it. Vancouver seems to give you an interview date of about 4 weeks from when they send you your interview letter.

If you haven't already had your medical you may want to book that soon as the only doctor in Vancouver that does these only does the medicals on Wednesdays and there is about a 2 week wait for that.

Dr. Ian Morgan, Woking Medical Services

Suite 250, 1144 Burrard Street

Vancouver, B.C. V6Z 2A5

Phone: (604) 681-8873

Fax : (604) 662-7729

When you call them they will call you back within 2 days (I called an left a message on their voice mail at 9:00pm and have a call back the following morning at about 10:00am).

The Doctor is located on the corner of Burrard and Davie Street and you have to be there at 6:30am in the morning (I was done by about 10:00am) and then you have to return later that day at about 2:00pm for your results.

You will want to get your immuzation information before your medical.

I had my family doctor give me a MMR shot and a Td shot. He also had a titre test done to show that I was immune to Varicella (chicken pox).

In your packet 3 letter it shows what you will need in regards to vaccinations depending on your age. I could help if I knew your age group (18-64 yrs or 65+ yrs).

You will also need to bring your passport and 3 passport photos to your medical. Get 5 passport photos since you will need 2 for your interview as well.

Looks like you will have to bring your kids as well because it says the following on the checklist from Vancouver:

"Arrange for a medical examination by one of the physicians listed on the enclosed medical instructions. Dr. Ian Morgan, the Vancouver physician can in many cases have the results available the same day. Please not that YOU must pay the medical examination, the doctor's office will inform you of the applicable fees. A medical examination is also required for each unmarried minor child/children who will accompany you to the United States."

As for the vaccination, here is what was in my packet 3 from Vancouver:

for ages (12 mo - 4 yrs) : (DTP, Hib, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella)

for ages (5 - 6 yrs) : (DTP, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella)

for ages (7 - 17 yrs) : (Td, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella)

for ages (18 - 64 yrs) : (Td, MMR, Varicella)

for ages (65 + yrs) : (Td, Varicella, Pneumococcal, Influenza)

You will want to talk to the doctor's office to see what the cost is for you and each of your children.
