Oh cool - I remember the Canadian Tire commercials - they had extra fun for me because "Scrooge" was a friend of mine - an actor named David Switzer who I knew from Theatre 5 in Kingston. The Canadian Tire toolguy from a few years later was Ted Simmonett - I went to highschool with him:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I don't know any of those, but my wife and I will be getting the "watch a lot" Telus TV package. The only U.S. channel I'll really miss is The History Channel. I know Canada has History Television, but it's nowhere near as entertaining.

One thing I don't understand is... where's HBO? Showtime? Cinemax? Starz? The commercial-free movie channels on Telus aren't ones I'm familiar with at all. :huh:

Ya- the movie channels are not the same at all. Also if you are into any shows on FX (Rescue me for example) they usually don't air in Canada until the complete season had ended in the US.

But speaking of Telus- this is my favorite commercial from them:

Also if you are a Food Network fan- try to catch this show on Food Network Canada. These guys are great!

The Movie Network and Movie Central have pretty much the same stuff. If you really miss The History Channel and the real HBO, Showtime, etc. DirecTV and Dish Network work in most of Canada. Likewise for those of you in the US, StarChoice works in most of the US and Bell ExpressVu works well in the northern half of the US. We enjoy being able to watch the news from home and our favourite shows and channels that aren't on TV in the states.

The above are how I remember the show. Many many years later, probably 1992 or something I saw a much later episode (after not seeing it for years). Oliver looked about 30 years old and was saying something like "Let's imagine we're playing at a playground." He looked so uninterested in it.

Out of nowhere comes the nightmarish Friend Record, a giant LP with legs, clinking out an unrecognizable tune on his musical spoons. Puppet pals included Webster, Didi, Tug, Hatchet the beaver, Cooter Coyote, Renfrew the dog, Giffer Gopher, Gasper Skunk, Milkshake the cow, Bijou the poodle, Casablanca the camel, Wallabe Walrus, and Of Course the horse.

Size Small aired from 1982-1983. Spinoff series with special themes and settings included Size Small Country (1983) and Size Small Island (1987).

Hey, let's not forget "Wok with Yan." A cooking show featuring Stephan Yan.

A trademark of his was aprons that bore a different 'wok' pun every show. Some examples are:

* Wok & Roll

* Wokking My Baby Back Home

* Danger, Men at Wok

* Wok Around the Clock

* Wok the Heck

* You Are Wok You Eat

* Wok Goes up Must Come Down

* Wok's New, Pussycat?

* Wokkey Night in Canada

* Stuck Between a Wok and a Hard Place

* Raiders of The Lost Wok

Some of these are hilarious. So lovely to see that no matter what your age, you can still find SOMEONE here on VJ Canada Forum that knows something from the same era. :blink::lol: At the beginning there with Laura and Nevada I was wondering if I was going to be able to participate!

Nevada and I have talked about this one before but do you guys remember Jonovision? It was more for kids around my age as an after school talk show but it was great.

Oh #### wait we have forgotten...

READY OR NOT!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
