Interview Approved 6-30-08 and NO visa yet

I've been searching the forums for any similar situations to ours. The interview was approved on 6-30-08 and it has been over 5 weeks since they received all required documents. We still do not have our visa. I have emailed a few times with very vague responses, sometimes no responses at all, the last response being 'consul has your file for review'. I specifically asked if there was anything holding it up or when they thought it would be sent. They did not answer my question.

Our attorney has informed us that if we continue to send email inquiries that the file could be lost on purpose. Does that kind of stuff happen?

Anyone else have a delay from the time your interview was approved and actually receiving the visa?

I am so sorry to hear of your troubles. I read your previous post about your medical and police report. I know they don't take phone calls, and emails don't seem to be working. If it were me, I would type out a letter, keep it short and to the point, ...visa aproved, you required documents, date sent and date signed for, and would like to know when the passport and visa will be received. Send it registered mail so you know when they got it. Why isn't your lawyer doing anything for you? I hope you get good news soon. Take care, and good luck.

Thank you so much for 'hearing' our frustration and your suggestions. I actually did send an email that was short, sweet, and to the point with the dates of them receiving the documents and just asked one question: when will the visa be sent? Is there anything else you need from us to process it? Their reply was 'the consul has your file for review'. We sent the email 9-8-08 and received this response the very next day. We pleaded to our attorney (who forget to tell us we needed this police certificate in the 1st place) for help or answers to why we were not getting a straight answer. We hired an attorney to avoid this kind of thing. After finding this website, in hindsight, I wish we would have done this ourselves...I think we would have done a better job at making sure the 'i' s were dotted and the 't's were crossed. I know if we had that certificate in hand on the day of the interview we probably would not have had this delay. We asked our attorney for more help yesterday and he stated that they would send an inquiry and that we should NOT send anymore emails for fear that they might get irritated and 'lose' the file. He will send an email next Thursday and another 10 days later. If their attempts are fruitless, they stated they have other means of getting an inquiry through to the consulate. The attorney also stated that the Canadian consulate is usually very good to work with. We started feeling so alone with our situation because we couldn't find any similar situations. Thank you again for listening and your suggestions.

Hoping for a visa next week... (the mailman came and left today with no visa :crying: )

Wow..how ironic.. "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down just came on my Pandora radio while typing this... sheesh

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.
