I got my appointment for the biometrics on Monday, I think it is time to get serious about the test. I have a couple of questions about it though... is it really hard? I am reading a book that says I might be asked several personal questions and others like: "why do you want to become a citizen?" That last question took me by surprise... do they really ask that and what do people usually answer?. Also, I seem unable to memorize the lyrics of the national anthem, English is my second language and in all honestly the lyrics are hard... will they ask me about it?

i'm not aware of the question "why do you want to become an american citizen?" coz' most of my relatives and friends didn't mention asking them about it, or else they surely share it with me coz' they know i'll be eligible to apply next year. well, if they will ask you that question, it's up to you why you want to become an american citizen (are you not proud to become one? i'm sure you are or else you won't apply to become an american citizen) or tell them that you are tired dealing and paying uscis on renewing your gc every 10 yrs

I don't know which version of exam you are talking about.

If you filed before Oct 1, 2008, and your interview scheduled before Oct 1, 2009, you still have choice for old(current) exam, and new exam.

New exam seems like asking more difficult questions for English...

But Civic history questions is based on pre-selected 96 (current) / 100 (new) questions.

So it should not be a big deal.

I didn't study it for much, and I just use my commute time so I just keep listen to questions/answers audio track from CD, which USCIS gave me after fingerprint.

Besides, I have no idea why you have to memorize national anthem lyrics.

If you want to see overall process, and what it looks like interview,

you can refer to following.
