Hi all,

Our expedite was approved for the I-130 petition on the 4th but our case has still not been touched online or status changed. Does anyone know how long after the expedite do they take to approve the case? Or if someone has had an expedite approved, how long did it take for your case to get approved?

thanks all!

It only took 1 day from the day my expedite was approved but I followed up with them after every step of it, I have seen some take up to 2 weeks depending on the background checks and what not, I would guess that 5-7 days is normal.

It took 4 weeks from filing an expedite request to approval for us, with a RFE (you can look at our timeline). We were not told nor received any correspondence on expedite request being approved.

We did get a lot of touches, because the congress aide in charged of our case kept calling USCIS to bug them.

If you are really anxious to know the outcome, may be you can get your congressman's office to call for a "progress report"?

I got the expedite approval notice from the Senators Office. It had the email from VSC attached to it that said our expedite was approved. I never receieved anything from VSC directly though. So, I then called VSC and they said yes our expedite was approved and if it senators office that ask for expedite then we send the notice only to them.

I noticed on alot of expedite cases here that they were touched many times right after their expedite approval and thats why i found it odd that mine hasnt even been touched when the expedite was approved on the 4th!

If you feel that your expedite is serious enough that they will take action on it by a phone call then give them a call, if it is for financial hardship they wont see that a few days will make a difference. You can always call them just to inquire on if they got it or not. I did not use a thrid party to assist with my expedite request so I couldnt tell you if making another call to your senator will make a diference or not. But I would call them (USCIS) just to check if they do indeed see that it is under expedite and ask them for an update on your case.

My expedite was approved within a few days; the 129F approval took 44 days (from submittal). I think a lot of you misunderstand what a Senator can and can't do for you. They can bug the bejesus out of USCIS to get off their butt and do something, but they have no authority over them. Senators are not magicians and enlisting their help will not magically cause USCIS to approve your expedite and/or your case.

USCIS has a list of categories that a case can be expedited under. I can't seem to find the list but it includes such categories as National Interest, Humanitarian Reasons, USCIS error, etc. I know the process is long and painful, but expedites are rare and even if you get one you are talking weeks (not days) for a case approval.
