Hi NYGirl and Everyone,

No, things aren't closed on Sundays in Canada. However some things are closed early on Sundays (about 5pm or so), so check ahead of time...Either way, have a great time when you visit Canada!

By the way to all you Canadians out there, I don't know if you remember this or not, but in Ontario, about 10-15 years ago, didn't Bob Rae and the NDP pass some law about it being illegal for stores to open on Sundays, but then it was overturned by Mike Harris and the Conservatives later? Lol...either that, or I'm getting my Canadian history mixed up....

Canadians, is it true that everything is closed on Sundays in Canada? Anything to do in Canada on Sunday? Some people posted things to do in Montreal but I was wondering if everything will be closed since I'll only be there for one day on Sunday.

Nope, it was illegal in Ontario for several generations for stores to be open on Sundays (except stores in tourist areas and gas stations and a few other exceptions), but then a Toronto store owner who was just outside the "tourist area" who refused to close, helped to get the law overturned and now everything can be open on Sundays, as long as employees are not "forced" to work if they don't want to.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card
