Hi, just want to make sure if we are doing the right thing..here is some info...

1. Wife is a US citizen. I am canadian citizen

2. got married in canada in july

3 wife is filing for i-130

I am wondering is this what we should be doing and also how long will i have to wait before i can move to the US? typically how long does it take for the whole process to move to us

another issue i have is, can i sponsor my wife so she can become a resident of canada as well just in case something ever happens in the us? we could always move to canada and not have to go through the process at that time. i am not sure if this allowed.

the next issue is the citizenship. I am canadian citizen and where i was born? can i become a US citizen? or do i have to give up on citizenship? i would appreciate your help. thanks

It'll be about a year to process the CR1 visa for you. Go have a look in the CR1 forum for detailed info, and/or read the guides above.

Having both processes going at the same time is not advisable, but it is do-able. IF the US side finds out about it however, they'll just cancel your petitions/applications for US PR.

The Canadian process isn't nearly as long in most cases (DeadPoolX here recently completed his in about 6 months).

Yes, you can get US citizenship once you're eligible. No, you do not have to give up your Canadian citizenship.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
