question about the police certificate

I have a question, I hope someone maybe from Germany can help me with.

:help:

I am waiting for package 3 from the embassy in Frankfurt, Germany. I know, I will need a police certificate/record,...

Last time I needed one for my job, I was asked which kind I needed (obviously there are different kinds for different "occasions"). Back then I just tried my luck, got the standard version and I was fine, but for the visa (K-1, btw) I definitley want to get it right and don't take a chance.

So, can anyone tell me, which one they want to see, and also, if it needs to be translated?

I was always told I need a translated birth certificate, but I can't find info specificly about the police record.

Thanks so much for any helpful info!!

:)

There´s a form you can take to the police saying that it´s a certificate for the consulate, so they know what they need to give you.

Hi. When we got our packet 3 from Naples, they told us the exact name of the police document they want. It didn't just say "Letter from the police" so maybe once Packet 3 arrives, you will see that the document they want has an exact name you can just request that. I don't THINK you will have to have it translated, if it's in German. As far as my experience has gone, I think a document can be in either English or the language of the country where you're applying. If a document is in a third language, it needs to be translated into English. For instance, my fiance's Italian police certificate is fine, but his Albanian birth certificate and police certificate needed to be translated and notarized for the interview.

Good luck!

Hello nane,

I answered the question about the police record in the thread where you answered Paula. Regarding to the birth certificate the normal birth certificate is fine. Just get a copy and take also the original with you to the consulate. You can order several international birth certificates for the AOS and other steps that follow later.

But here in germany it is enough if the documents are in either german or english. Just make sure that any other document you need for later is translated by a certified translator.

Good luck to you.
