NONE VS N/A

I read that a person should be careful to put the correct one (NONE vs N/A) for questions.

However I am a little confused. For Instance if they ask for your prior spouse's name,

seems like it would be N/A not applicable if I have never been married but it could be none

since I had no prior spouse. And then there are many other similar questions but not exactly the same.

What exactly is the difference that would definitely tell me which I should put for any question.

It would be nice if someone would create a sample of all the forms with the default (none, or N/A)

for every question when there is no answer. Since it should always be the same.

No question could be "NONE" on one form but "N/A" on someone else's , correct ?

If people can post here the correct answers for specific fields I would be willing to create such a

default form for each form and post it. Is there any way to know for sure ? Could we get USCIS to

tell us the correct answer if I send them a request for information ?

Or should we vote, between us to see what is the best answer ?

opening this up for discussion
