I know...it's been 15 weeks since my interview :crying: . But the month has got off to a good start - HG and Zaib got their visas  I'm hoping Whatznext is the next to hear good news as she's been waiting so long, but anyone getting their visa means happy VJers

Thanks for the good wishes i know I have been waiting a long time but honestly I am numb to this whole process my heart goes out to the people just starting AP it is so overwhelming escpecially when it comes as a shock. I am tired of this whole mess but I do feel like an end will come within 10 months maybe sooner but for us they have pulled out all the stop, yeilds and detours hence thats why I changed my name to Whatznext.

I did get a reply to an Email I had sent the Embassy

Dear Madame,

In reply to your inquiry we shall inform you that the case of your husband has been received by this office. However, we cannot process the case any further until we receive all the information needed from the adjudicating authorities. As soon as we receive the information requested your husband will be informed on the further procedures.

Respectfully,

Consular Section

U.S. Embassy

Kyiv, Ukraine

to me this is a joke i see nothing promising in it. Keep in mind he was approved at the interview paid the money left his passport then he was put on AP we never received any info regarding this I found out when he never got his passport and I called the Embassy then 10 months of AP only to have the case sent back to USCIS and I found this out from DOS. So now they are doing more background checks Im sure they will come up with something else so it is hard to even be hopeful. I did read that after security checks are a year old they have to do another one that takes 4-6 weeks so after 6 weeks if I havent heard from them then I know it will be the long haul. Again thanks for the support

The DoS says wait 60 days before you make an inquiry if a case in in AP.. that the average is 60 to 90 days.... I know the past month seems like forever, but in the scheme of things its not that long...

I only found out I was in AP because I called the DoS - otherwise I'd still be here twiddling my thumbs!! I called them several times, and contacted the embassy, and not once did anyone say don't contact us before the 60th or 90th day...

Anyway, today it's been 15 weeks, or 105 days, and I called the DoS for the first time in a fortnight - the last date stamp was when my husband's congressman made his second inquiry - back in mid-April, almost eight weeks ago :bonk: And yet every time I call they say they can see that they're working on it - it just doesn't make sense :girlwerewolf2xn:

Hubby was approved at the interview, nothing was said or mentioned about AP <no slips or papers were issued, passport was kept> she actually told us that we would recieve the visa in 1 week or we could pick it up earlier at VFS. Called the embassy on June 2nd and was informed that Hubby had been put on AP and that it would take 4-6 weeks. I called again June 7th and the same Lady from the embassy told me that we are under Mandatory Administrative Processing, our case is currently being under review and to call back Friday or the begining of next week.

Sooo... I guess you can put me on your list... :( I would like to add that I never wanted to be part of yalls club.. I want to go back with the cool kids that dont have to sit in detention

yup, same here :( I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but when I found out I was in AP after calling the DoS, the lady said that she thought my case would be finished in the very near future - it's been exactly 15 weeks and I'm still waiting. What I'm trying to say is don't get your hopes up about the 4-6 weeks - it could be sooner, it could be longer :( Good luck, and welcome to detention :P

I'm so very sorry, Whatznext :( All I can say is that I hope your husband gets his visa very, very soon, and whereas I'm not sure how true it is that the anger and frustration melts away once that visa is in hand, I do know that one can only appreciate their spouse and their relationship all the more having gone through this nightmare. Wishing you all the best (F)

At this point, the file is still at the consulate and they are not ready to sign off on the visa.. It could be a security check, or some other issue they have.. The case could also get sent to DHS/FBI for additional checks... it is hard to know what is going on if the consulate does not tell you... often its just the case sitting and waiting for a CO to make a phone call to someone to verify something... in some countries, the CO's send investigators out to the home towns and ask questions to the local gossip or neighbors... in our case they will likely make some phone calls to relatives to see if all is legit...

The CO's have a checlist they must go down to issue the visa... in some cases there are a few extra items on the list due to the applicants name, country of origin or some other issue... we cant make them go down the check list any faster, but we can make inquiries to let themknow its a big deal to us and we are here waiting... (take caution not to come accross wrong to the people who are making a life decision for you)

In any case, the DoS rep will continually say AP until the visa is issued... if it get sent to the states for additional checks one may get lucky enough to be informed of that....

Ok guys, listen to this. I did an Infopass appt today, the lady was very nice. The security guard was also trying to pick me up and said he knew me HA! I know he knows me from around the area. Anywho I explained the situtation and she could not understand herself what was going on. I told everything that I did and that I was not getting a response from the embassy. We talked like we was chatting it up about the whole thing. So she said the only thing that she can do is try and get in contact with the embassy herself and see if she can get an answer out of them.

I also called DOS and they lady today was nice also she started to look to see what was going on. She saw the notes that they said the realtionship was crediable so she could not understand why I did not have the visa as yet.

She also did not see any notes to the reason why. URRRGHHH.

It seems that the case is lost on someones desk.

Hopefully I will get somewhere by the end of the week.

Consulate responded to my email fromamonth ago when I cited DoSpolicy...Here is what they said:

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your inquiry.

This case has been under processing in our office since when we received it from the national Visa Center. In regard to whether the processing of this case has been improperly or unreasonably delayed, please know that we are required to carefully review visa cases. This requires that officers take time to fully consider all aspects and facts of a case. The waiting period that you cite is not unusual to our decision-making process in such cases. Once we have completed the processing of this case, we will contact the beneficiary.

If you have further inquiries, please do not delete your original email and please include the complete case number (HCM XXXX-XXX-XXX) in all correspondence.

Sincerely,

Information Team

They have gone through everything submitted and now they are looking for a reason to deny that is outside the scope of what we provided... Over 3 months in AP and they say "The waiting period that you cite is not unusual to our decision-making process in such cases." good.gifWhat a bunch of cr@p...So many cases get decisions within days or weeks at our consulate. They pretty much said when we are done we are done.... When they use this AdditionalProcessing umbrella they can do just about whatever they feel like .... including making phone calls to friends and relatives and misrepresenting who they are.. not much we can do other than wait.. and wait... and wonder "whatsnext"......

So when I called DOS, they just told me that my case is being processed at the embassy. What do you guys think that means?

It just means your case is at the Embassy and the Embassy has requested certain checks from Washington. Once, your checks are complete then they will be able to issue the visa.

Yeah, let us know if anything comes out of it. But, I think the USCIS has no idea about AP and can't really do anything. But, I really hope I am wrong.
