HI Nita

I think that should be all the more reason for them to grant him the visa faster ...

It is very common with all the unpredictablity around , to not see folks for a year or more ...I am sure they understand that ...Just tell them the truth ...

Best of luck with the interview

Obviously if at all possible it would be best to make another trip now. Standard interview question is how many times you've met.

Better to do it now than after problems pop up at the interview.

Dude they are married. :-) I don't think it will make one bit of difference. They might ask and they just say what happed to prevent her from going. It seems that we do put our life on hold during this process, but the bills and petition fees have to get paid somehow. Nita, just explain it.

I don't know where the two years came from, but for K1 visa holders they must have met in the preceeding two years face to face before petitioning, unless for religious reasons or it would cause hardship to the petitioner. There is nothing about since applying or before the interview.

"Dude they are married"

Are you implying married people don't scam? Number of times peeps have met seems to make a BIG difference in proving a bona fide relationship.

That is exactly what I am implying...ha ha. Whatever.

Have a bank account with your spouses name on it as well as yours. It will help to have proof of co-mingled assets or proof you are send money to assist in financial support. HSBC has an account you can open for sending money to people in other countries that doesn't require you both to have SSNs. It is called an easy send account and since both of your names are on it you can get a letter from HSBC that you can use as proof of a continuning relationship even if you have been apart for an extended period. Me and my wife have been apart for about 1 year and 2 months. I am going to be giving her a letter from the bank and copies of bank statements, phone bills, chat logs, and emails to show we are in a commited relationship. You can also get notarized letters from family attesting to your marriage and that you are commited to each other.

Join the club. It has been one year and 2 months since i saw my husband. :crying:

YOu brought up a valid point, so i called the CSR at USCIS and she said that the 2 years apply for before filing. You had to have seen them within two years before filing. While it is pending, the two years do not apply. I wish us all a speedy processing. :star:

This is wrong information, 2 years meeting is for K-1 visas. For spousal visas you just have to be married and have had met once. I am speaking it from experience. I haven't seen my husband for 3 and half years, I was approved at CSC without any glitch, as a matter of fact, you don't even have to give evidence of meeting at USCIS level. But I do know this will raise a lot of questions at Consulate level but nowhere with USCIS guideline does it say that married couples need to have met together within the last 2 years, the only condition for marriage couple is that, if its a proxy marriage then the marriage needs to be "consummated" after the proxy marriage.

She was asking about this for the Consulate level. I think with all the evidence she has, it should be fine. Just take all that documentation, the most current records such as the most current bank statement and insurance info, and maybe some affidavits from friends and families verifying the relationship. Good Luck!

I been thinking about it and I am concern that last time I saw my hubby has been too long (1 year 6 months). Reason it's been too long was that last year (2007) I was laid off from my job in October and I had to find another one fast so I would have the history and income to sponsor my Husband. I couldn't go to see him for that reason. Then when I did have a scheduled trip in January 2008 (bought the ticket and was packed and everything), I had to cancel my trip 3 days before because of Deathly violence that broke out in my husband country and my husband was scared for my safely so I couldn't go. Then again, we planned for me to go in May for our anniversary, and then the deathly violence broke out again for much longer and worst, really affecting my husband's resident area. So what I am asking is, would this be a terrible effect for my husband interview?

I do have an email that I send to the US embassy in Beirut during this time for the concern of my husband's safety, and an Expedite attempt with USCIS as proof of the violence. Should I include this with the package I am sending my husband? Or do you think I should not worry about this as much?? I am starting to be concern about things like this... Freaking out here....

Please advise anyone!?!?!? :help:

Nita

PS.. Good news is that my habebe got his Interview appointment letter today and he was extremely HAPPY to have this in his hands!!!

I know in Jamaica, they asked my then fiance how often I had come to visit and the dates.

As long as he can explain, you should be fine.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
