This has happened before. Take it one step at a time. You're going to need to get a new passport, so focus on getting that. You're going to need a new visa in the passport once it's issued. Did they take the brown envelope as well. If not, you'll likely need to send the brown envelope back to the consulate so they can reissue the visa. If they took the brown envelope, you're going to have to try to recreate everything that was in it. Hopefully, you made a copy of each piece of paperwork that you send to USCIS...

No, they didn't take any of the envelopes or anything. Just the purse. So at least I still have all the stuff I need, just not the passport. Thanks guys.

I hope those criminals are caught and tarred and feathered (then sent to jail). (F)

I do too. Well.... maybe without the tar and feathers bit.

You know... I'm really wary of locking my purse in my trunk or car. I used to drive to this beach at home, lock up my stuff, then go for a walk. It's a pretty popular place for that and lots of ladies were doing the same thing. Then I read where the criminals had started breaking into the trunks and stealing purses, so I stopped doing that. Stupid criminals need some karma.

I'm so sorry, Lincoln. That's just miserable. (F)

sorry! that blows! Criminals get their karma eventually--usually by Bubba in the shower--oops dropped the soap!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I can't even imagine how you must feel right now. But at least the process is finished and now its just about getting all your stuff together once again, still it's incredibly unfair, especially since this entire process sucks the life out of you. Hope you get everything back and if not, I hope the process of getting everything back is quick and painless.

I just noticed how much I used the word process. Hmm.
