I've been reading a lot lately about people having to get their vaccinations re-done whilst in the US adjusting status... all because the POE officer takes their records so that they don't have evidence that they're already done (?!)

Is this true?

I haven't had them done yet as we've just mailed the petition, though I like to look ahead so I'm clear in the process; and (like others) am not a fan of needles and the thought of having to go through the money and pain again after doing it once... I mean, there are a lot of injections on that list! :(

Not sure about the missing forms, but there's probably less vaccinations required than you think, depending on your age. As a 31 year old male, the only jabs needed were tdap and MMR, which the NHS did gratis. Have to admit, I'm not a fan of needles, but they weren't too bad at all.

Never heard of this, and why would you surrender your medical records to Immigration anyway?

it is strongly advised to keep copies of everything you can!!!!! and do not surrender originals unless absolutely mandated. There are very few originals documents required to be submitted in this entire process.

Get your immunisations done soon, I had to get Tdap and MMR, (MMR comes in two doses, and you have to wait over 4 weeks between them) , make a copy of your immunisation records just to be safe.

The Tdap is a breeze you don't even notice it, the MMR hurts..like hell! . I am a 22 year old Female student so I got mine free on the NHS.

The documents that you submit at the POE... does this not include medical records from London? I thought I read that medical docs were shown there too, as well as at the interview. And since you don't get to see what's in the envelope and aren't allowed to open it, there's no way to get it copied.

Oh no. :(

Well of course it's all worth it to be with the boy... and I can treat myself to a nice cup of tea afterwards!! I'll also be a 22 year old student... so can get my healthy dose of pain for free!

Gemmie, it is possible I am just a huge wuss  .

My nurse also had no idea how to get me a copy of my immunisation records, so I suggested he photocopy the Original sheet from my med records and sign/date etc; As long as your jabs are up to date, you will have your records before the medical, make a copy straight away before any government officials get there mitts on it hehe.

Your vaccination records are your vaccination records. Unless you receive some at the exam you will still have your records. In addition, while I understand this is a different country, I made sure my wife asked to get a copy of the DS-3025 prepared by the clinic BEFORE she left the exam. As such between the original records and the DS-3025, she had all we needed for AOS.

Ask at the exam to get the DS-3025!!!!

While it is true the medical results are surrendered at the POE, as long as it is less than 1 yr old at time of AOS, they will retrieve it from your file and use it for AOS.

They are talking about the medical exam done for the Embassy interview. You never get your hands on the examination notes/forms. They go straight from the doctors who fill them out to the London Embassy via courier. The exam becomes part of the immigration file on you. You can't 'surrender' something you've never had your hands on.

The Knightsbridge nurse/receptionist(?) gave my fiance a copy of the immunization report after they filled it out (DS-3025.) The chest x-ray film is returned at the interview, but I don't think it's ever needed again by immigration. Since you're not going back to Knightsbridge for any kind of future treatment, they have no use for the x-ray or reason to store it. I guess they figure you might as well have the option to take it to America and give to your new doctor if you wish.

My fiance also got MMR and Tdap for free at NHS. A little FYI: His NHS doctor said he only needed MMR from looking over the form, however when he went to Knightsbridge, they told him he had to have the Tdap, mostly for the pertussis (p) part (that's whooping cough). So he had to go back to NHS and then fax the documentation back to Knightsbridge. In hindsight he wishes he had just paid Knightsbridge to do it that day because they didn't have the vaccine at NHS when he went back. There was a shortage and they were saving it for babies/children. So he thought he would have to go back to London to get the Tdap at Knightsbridge after all. But then NHS called him and said some more had come in and he could go get the jab. It was kind of a run around, but he started early and it didn't slow down the visa process.

And one more thing--Tdap is actually a different drug in the US, and it is a US list. It's for teens and older (Tetnus, diptheria, accellular pertussis) You can't even get that exact drug in the UK. In the UK, they combine polio with the mix in the vaccine they give, but it's okay and meets the requirements.

Yeah - that's the issue I had - I am going to have to dig through to see if I have copies, otherwise I guess I will need to call Knightsbridge or something... oh man I thought all the stressing was over and now I can't even find a darn physician - how do I know what they all do?! It is so frustrating... I just need to get the HPV done here and I can't find anything that looks vaguely like a doctor's surgery

I had a couple of the vaccinations down at the Knightsbridge doctors, it was easier then messy around getting my own to do it and I knew it was done and dusted and would be sent with the file to the Embassy.

The nurse gave me a separate card recording the vaccinations for my own record.
