Good thing you started asked about this, it prompted me to check luggage allowance for nwa which have changed from last time I check a few weeks ago:

International Travel - between North America and Africa / Asia / Europe / India / Middle East)

  • Coach Class: Each ticketed passenger is allowed two (2) pieces of checked luggage.
    • Exception for Coach Class International travel with a connection time of eight (8) hours or more that requires luggage to be re-checked for a flight within the US, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean the Domestic Checked Luggage Allowance applies.*
    • Each piece: 50 pounds (23 kg) with linear dimensions not to exceed 62 inches (158 cm).
      • Exceptions for trans-Pacific travel wholly between U.S./Canada and the Philippines, China and Hong Kong, checked pieces may weigh up to 70 pounds (32 kg) each. Beginning August 1, 2008 for ticketing and travel on/after August 1, 2008, these exceptions will be removed. Travel between these countries will be subject to the standard Economy free luggage allowance of two (2) pieces up to 50 pounds (23 kgs) each, with a linear dimension not to exceed 62 inches (158 cm) each.
Will be travelling Sept 4 with my 2kids and was originally thinking of buying 2 big luggage.. but now, i might have to take full advantage of the 2 pieces of checked in luggage allowance for each ticketed passenger and bring 4-6 medium sized luggage instead of 2large ones just to make sure the weight would be evenly distributed. Edited by dbears

Sweety just got her wedding dress there in Marikina City near her home. So far she has on big bag but soon she will shop for a smaller bag to accomodate the box with the dress. Of course if there is a charge for the extra bag it will be worth it to get the extra bag rather than the cost of shipping the dress. All around it is all a good deal.

Please find my experience in my profile it says touvhdown LA,

I have used PAL and the free baggage is 23 kilos or 50 pounds per box or luggage. the carry on has a limit of 7 kilos as well.. its cheaper to buy wedding dress in the Philippines but it will not be wise because you wont have a space for other things such as clothes and necessities.. besides the dress will be ruined.. i got mine in Davids Bridal,, the dress is gorgeous,,:D i bet she will look stunning.. careful though in buying the dress, you shou'nt see it for your self before the wedding ok? ask your mom or friend to accompany her..

GoodLuck!

Fiance traveled from Brunei through Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on Asiana and United booked direct from United. They had also the two bag 50 lb limit. And we had plan for her to take two bag. But at the last minute, it became 3. So I told her to be prepared to pay extra. But, the reality was no extra charge for three checked, each under 50 lbs, ( barely) plus two carry on.

Got the wedding dress at David's Bridal, here in Ohio. Huge selection and competive prices for USA.

its cheaper to buy wedding dress in the Philippines but it will not be wise because you wont have a space for other things such as clothes and necessities.. besides the dress will be ruined.. i got mine in Davids Bridal,, the dress is gorgeous,, :D i bet she will look stunning.. careful though in buying the dress, you shou'nt see it for your self before the wedding ok? ask your mom or friend to accompany her..

There had been numerous brides in the past who bought their dress in the Philippines and it reached the US (or any part of the globe) in perfect condition and those dress elicited the WOWs and AHHs from every guest at their weddings. Even dresses bought ready made in malls were thought to have hefty price tags by the USC guest.

I have my dress done here in the Philippines as well as my maid of honor's dress(fiance's daughter) and my junior bridesmaid's (my daughter), also my groom's barong and the barong for the best man and my son's (my escort). Our dresses are not the traditional big flufy dress. My gown is a draped lace wedding gown inspired by one of Monique Llhulier's spring 2009 collection and a goddess dress inspired gown for the 2 attendants so it all won't take so much space. For the fabric used in our gowns and barong, all of it will have cost $7,000-$15,000 or even more if bought in the US. But here, everything cost me less than $500 (dresses, barongs). For the price and the savings, it is really worth the hassle of carrying my dress all over the globe.

Buying some wedding materials here too like the wedding favors, invitation cards, etc. coz I want our wedding to have a little taste of Davao, Philippines and wedding favors that will definitely be unique in the eyes of our USC guests.

Well, wether you buy the dress in the Philippines or in the US, the bride will definitely look gorgeous in it... i guess it is the special bridal glow that makes every bride look stunning.

Hi to all VJ members. I'm a little bit confused coz while I was canvassing for luggage bags yesterday I was told (by the salesman) that a total of only 2 bags are allowed in PAL. One hand carry and one check-in luggage OR I can check-in both of those (2) bags if I want to. I rechecked in the website of PAL and in my own opinion I can have the following: (kindly correct me if I am wrong )

2pieces check-in luggage (each piece not exceeding 23 kilograms),

1 carry-on baggage (not exceeding 7kgs),

1 laptop with case (that I will carry on board)

1 small handbag with camera, passport and wallet (I will carry on board)so all in all I can have

5 bags without excess baggage charge if I meet the requirements below

For tickets issued on or after 01 July 2008, the following Free Baggage Allowance shall apply:For Journeys to/from the USA, Canada and Guam (Piece System)

Mabuhay (Business) Class

Maximum of two (2) pieces with a total dimension of 124 inches (316cms) and no piece exceeding 62 inches (158 cms). Each piece should not exceed 23 kilograms (50 lbs)

Fiesta (Economy) ClassMaximum of two (2) pieces with a total dimension 107 inches (273 cms) and no piece exceeding 62 inches (158 cms). Each piece should not exceed 23 kilograms (50 lbs)

Handcarried Baggage

Each passenger is allowed to carry one piece of carry-on luggage small enough to be placed in the overhead rack or under the passenger seat of the aircraft cabin. The carry-on luggage must be within the following specifications :

size (length+width+height) shall not exceed 45 in. or 115 cm.

weighing not more than 7 kgs. or 15 lbs.

If carry-on luggage fails to comply with the required applicable dimensions and weight, carry-on luggage will be checked in and charged with the corresponding excess baggage charges (if applicable).

In addition of the free carry-on luggage allowance, a passenger is allowed to carry the following items onboard:

a laptop with case

a small handbag

a coat

wrap or blanket

a walking stick or a pair of crutches

a small camera or a pair of binoculars

a reasonable amount of reading materials

infant's food and carrying basket

Hope to hear from you.

Thanks and God bless.
