hi,

i'm new to the forum and was directed here by trailmix (thank you very much). any help is highly appreciated.

So far we've been assigned a case number this july, sent the choice of agent via email and was acknowledge of receipt at NVC, paid the affidavit of support fee bill of $70, sent the affidavit of support I-864, paid immigrant visa fee bill of $400 august 5th. Now waiting for the visa application packet from nvc. my husband found out about the jame's shortcut and we used it for our application process.

1. I would like to know what do they ask for to be sent with a completed ds230? I would like to gather as much required documents as early as now as some of them I might need to request from my birth country.

2. I don't have a vaccination record? Should I start having vacciantion as early as now?

3. What do they usually ask you to bring if you're going for interview?

thank you very much in advance!

Welcome to the Canada forum, where the cool people are.

What type of visa are you applying for?

As far as vaccination records, I didn't have mine either. I went to a clinic in Edmonton to renew my tetanus shot; and the doctor who did my medical performed a titres test; so I was ok.

I didn't have a vaccination record either, but I knew I had had vaccinations. I called the London Ontario Public Health Unit (where I grew up) and they had my record there. The lady faxed it to me. I had to have one updated shot but that was it so it helped a lot.

hi,

thank you for the information about the vaccination. Unfortunately for me, my doctor when i was small is no longer in practice and medical record will be hard to obtain. I know I have some of the vaccines listed on the list as my mother recalls it. I did have a tetanus shot few months ago with the doctor I'm seeing now. Can I request a titer test with my regular doctor to find out what vaccines i might need and have it ahead of time?

we applied for k3 and immigrant visa. we are cancelling the k3 application because of location of processing it and where i am now. so far the immigration visa is going fast for us and we hope all goes well.

thanks again

Welcome to VJ!

I believe that if there are no vaccination records you can get a titer test, which will let the doctor know which immunizations you have had. What kind of immigration visa did you apply for? Make sure to click "immigration timelines" at the top of the screen and fill in your timeline, knowing when you applied for things and exactly what you applied for helps people give you more accurate answers. :)

Good luck with your journey

Welcome to VJ. Lots of great advice here. the search engine on here is so so!! One has to get the physical completed by an approved physician, BUT one can get the required vaccinations completed by ur family Doctor, usually much cheaper going that route. if you dont have any records of vaccinations, your family Doctor can do a Titre. They draw some blood, then send it to the lab, and they can usually tell what vaccinations you had in the past. As others have stated, do your best to fill in your time line and state what Visa you have applied for. if you look just below ones avatar, it states "Filed For" If you go near the Top/Middle of the page you will see "MY CONTROLS" there u shal find the various settings (left hand side) to change/add information. Welcome to VJ!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
