I wish more people felt like you did, but thats easy for us to say here but look at Alwin who is American Christian and his wife Eygptian Muslim... facing what they are facing if he goes to Egypt to be with his wife... condemnation by all... and not allowed to stay together... very sad !

My fiance had his interview on August 3, 2008. We are apart of the royal mess where Americans and Egyptians could not get married in 2007. So, as things turn out I made the petition for K1 visa that was approved in February. Well, the CO said that he needed his original military exemption papers and he sent that in after the interview. The CO also told him that he would contact me as soon as possible to ask me some questions. Well the CO called me today and asked me some questions and then stated that he was not going to issue the visa due to the fact that he believes that this is only for immigration purposes and that it is highly unusual for an Egyptian male to marry Jewish, Divorced and with children and that I could have listed his name on the child's birth certificate or at least had a muslim name for the child. Well as it turns out I have a 10 month old and when I tried to list Mohmed's name on the birth certificate the nurse told me that I had to be legally married to do that, I told the CO that and he did not budge in what he stated to me. The CO told me that he was sending this case back to the DHS. What can we do now? I am extremely upset over all this time that we had to wait to be with each other again. Any help would be great. Thanks again

You have to move FAST!!! Contact either your congressman and/or senator. Tell them the situation, move quickly to get proof from the hospital of their regulations. Gather letters of support for your relationship from both your and his family. Also from friends that know the both of you as a couple. Supply this proof to the congressman/senator, and have him/her send this to the consulate before they return the petition. The key is to get them to review it before it is sent back. That is just the start. If this doesn't work, and I warn you that it usually won't, then we can give you further guidance.

Hi:

The congressman here has emailed the Cairo Embassy many times, sent faxes and has called. They are not responding at all to my congressman. Is there anything else that we can do to get a response from them? The congressman's office stated that this is the strangest embassy that they have ever dealt with, seeing that they do not return emails, calls or even a fax. They stated that they have emailed anyone and everyone that they could and are waiting to hear from them. It has been a week since they have contacted the Cairo embassy. Do you or anyone else on the list have any other suggestions. Thanks all for helping!!!

Have you tried emailing them and did you get a response? If I remember, Cairo sometimes goes a full week without returning emails and sometimes it's because their inbox is simply full. Try emailing them with a general question and see what kind of response time you get when they email you back. Good luck!

No, I have not emailed them at all, just the congressman's office has as well as calling and faxing. I would think that they would at least return a fax if not an email. I will do as you said and see what happens. Thanks again

No I didn't. I get a lot of good photos from www.deviantart.com and that is where this came from. I just type in Cairo in the search bucket and out comes a lot of pictures. I love typing in different emotions too to see what pops up, like anger, depression, joy, etc. :) Anyways this picture is just what my husband's street looks like where he used to live in Cairo.

I am wondering if this is why they haven't returned any emails from the congressman. They know they screwed up. Let us know what happens, I hope this gets turned around before it gets sent back.
