Hi all,

I just called the NVC, and finally got good news. It has been very long waiting after the approval of our I-129F petition.

Our I-129F petition was approved on May 5, but for some reason, the NVC didn't receive our case for a long time.

Although NVC operators said that it would normally take 2~4 weeks, but ours took over 12 weeks (86 days).

I called the NVC so many times, but I gave up calling a week ago

because I truely believed that the NVC or the USCIS had lost our case.

Also most operators were mean, which made me a little nervous whenever I called.

I am so happy that our case is finally moving.

I want to know how long it usually takes for an embassy to receive the case from the NVC,

and how the embassy conacts me (through email or mail).

I hope I can get the interview date and the K-3 visa as soon as possible.

Are there anything I can do to make the process move faster before I get contacted by the embassy?

Thank you very much for your advice in advance.

There are embassy-specific rules, ie. here in Manila, the embassy no longer issues packet 4 and the beneficiary does not have to wait for the mail informing the beneficiary that the embassy has received the petition. In order to fastrack the case, the beneficiary can call the US embassy to inquire if they have received the case or not and set an appointment immediately - for an exorbitant fee or course (it's even more expensive than making a long distance call to the US). I suggest visiting the website of your embassy or posting this topic in the regional discussion thread. =)

Usually it takes up to 7 days for the NVC to mail the petition to the embassy, starting from the day the NVC actually forwards the case, not the day they receive it. In some cases, it only takes a couple of days.

God bless!

Patience is a virtue all of us must have in this process. It is painful, long, and time goes by with little or no information. There is nothing I am aware of that you can do to make things happen faster. BUT - you should be very close. My case was with USCIS FOREVER but it was only with the NVC for about 2 weeks. My case was completed by the NVC on July 25, 2008. When I called the NVC they told me our interview was scheduled for September 30. The scheduling obviously depends upon how busy the embassy is. I emailed the embassy and they confirmed our interview was scheduled for September 30. Again, I think you are getting close. I know the waiting is unbearable and I think the closer it is to the actual issuance of the visa, the more difficult the waiting is. I submitted my wife's I-130 on November 2, 2007. It has been a long wait. Not as long as others, but still long. Best of luck to you!

Jina, glad your I-129F has finally forwarded to NVC.

If you are a tracking freak like me, this is what I do.

Call NVC everyday, listen to NVC AVR message, it will clearly say “Your case is completed and forwarded to the consulate in XXX on MM/DD/YYYY…”

Upon hearing this message, go to DHL website at http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef and track your shipment.

If AVR says your shipment date is 08/05/2008, NVC actually called DHL one day before this date to pick up the shipment. So your reference date is 08/04/2008. Then enter EXP 04 AUG 2008A as your reference in the above DHL website. Then look for package that mail to your consulate.

Once you see the package reaches your consulate, give them a call. They will be able to tell you more details.

How fast this happens depends on the workload of your consulate, they should mail/hand out package 3 to you, once they receive back package 3 from you, they will mail/hand out package 4 with the appointment date. If you live near the consulate, ask whether it's possible to pick up the package 3 and package 4, instead of waiting for them to arrive in the mail.

Jina, sorry, I forgot yours is K3, you won't hear it on AVR, you should talk to a NVC rep to get the date they mail your package instead.

Thank you all!! I am now super excited.

Since everything has been so slow, I thought the embassy would also take a long time to receive our case.

The USCIS took over four months to receive our I-130 petition, and another four months to approve our I-130 and I-129F petitions.

After then, the NVC took 86 days to enter our case into their computer system and send it to the embassy.

However, after we finally got our case number, things seem to go so fast.

The NVC assigned case # on July 30 for our approved I-129F petition, and my husband got e-Packet today (August 5) from the embassy in Seoul.

With the case number assigned, I submitted online interview scheduling form.

Surprise! In less than two hours, I got the interview date, August 25, about two weeks after today.

I heard that in my country, the visa will be issued in a week after the interview.

I hope I can be with my husband in the first or second week of next month.

I wish KL consulate will email the forms, I am still waiting for packet 3 that mailed out since last Friday.
