HI all, again!!!

Im off to meet Amy in Halifax on Friday morning, hoping to pick her up and get to her Phys. exam in Montreal by Monday, interview on Friday, non denominational entity willing. So I believe we need to bring copies of everything they already have, right? Just in case? Even though the packet says that everything is recieved/reviewed. But what abut proof of our bona fide marriage? Is this like that movie with Gerard Depardieu? Do I need to bring our wedding album? And pics from our courtship, with the families and all that? Should I bring our wedding DvD's? There are six of them (it was a Cape Breton/NY wedding in Mabou. Everyone kicked their own asses, and it was splendid.) How many pics will they need to see? Love letters from our 13 miserable months apart? Can't we just get to second base in front of them? Anyone know what to really expect? I'm down to my last free minutes before I hit the road, so I really appreciate anyone who's got some wisdom to share to help me rescue my princess. Im not leaving Canadia without my honey.

Peace and good luck to all,

Dan

Don't bring DVDs and such like, they won;t have a means to view them. Do bring a few photos from the two of you over the years, maybe some congrats cards addressed to the two of you on your wedding, a couple of the tame love letters, maybe some phone bills showing you called eachother when apart, some bills addressed to the two of you when you were together (I assume you lived together at one point, as you are going for an IR-1 and were apart only 13 months). Always better to bring too much!

That being said, when I went for my IR-1 interview, I didn't get asked for any bonafide evidence, not even our kids' birth certs, and the interview consisted of two questions: why do you want to move to Arkansas (good house prices- CO smiled at that), and is the town you move to near Little Rock (no- at least not to a European, it is 2 hours drive away!).

I had my CR-1 interview back in 2004 and it was a piece of cake. There are REVIEWS on the upper left of the screen "Reviews: Embassy" http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php so i wont go into much detail as their is a lot of info there.

- Have your interview letter/passport out as the security dudes will want to see it. NO big bags/purses /coffee//electronics of any kind!!

- You go through like airport security, so keep change (anything metal) to a minimum.

- Elevator opens from the REAR

_ most of your time there will be sitting down and waiting, bring a book. Your given a piece of paper with a # on it (ie c1) and ur # is called from a screen that is in the middle of the waiting area. It beeps every time a new # is called

- Evidence wise 99.9% of people are not even asked for ANY! I wasn't. BUT I brought some pictures of us, my travel receipts to DC. i was already on her apartment lease (wasnt living in the USA) And i was already on her bank acct, but those are overkill. A few pictures should more than suffice. Some bring phone bills/logs

Dont forget the envelope. Best of luck

oh yes, even though u sent in originals, always good to bring the photocopies of the originals with you. or u could be ####### like me, and I paid extra to have double of my originals, lol They didnt need to see any of that though, as they had all the paperwork

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Bring everything you think might be relevant.

In my Husband's case, they asked for tax transcripts from 2005 and 2006. Now one would think this was irrelevant, considering I only had foreign income - so therefore it couldn't be used for the affidavit of support and we used assets not income - not the case.

So if you only sent in the 1 required tax return to NVC - take the other 2 as well.

Also someone here was asked for a work resume' - you might want to have a copy on hand.

Anyway, no need to over-kill on the documents, but only you know your situation. If you have the document - take it along...and good luck!
