Useful website for people traveling to/from Nepal

This website is put out by a travel agent in KTM and it is pretty useful, though some of the info may be out of date. For example, sadly Thai Airways does not fly nonstop from BKK to JFK anymore. ( :crying: Govi and I were hoping to go to Thailand...) It gives info on which airlines fly to KTM, baggage allowances(very handy since I always bring the max home for my eBay biz), which countries do Nepalis need transit visas for, best times cost-wise to travel to Nepal, shortest layovers, etc.

Do you usually use a travel agent or buy online? I have always used a travel agent and paid hundreds of $$ less than the online fares. This website agrees that it's not a good idea to book online when flying to KTM since the connections are more complicated, many flights only go once a week, etc. When you went to Nepal and brought S. and your son back to the U.S. when and how did you buy your tickets? Did you buy them all before you left the States? I am wondering how you can do it so that you can fly together without paying through the nose, since my flight would be originating in NYC and his in KTM(assuming we need to buy R/T tickets).

I think I've used an agent for all four trips (my memory s*cks these days). I had a friend who was a travel agent, but she's since retired. Last trip I used Manoj at Travel House Nepal. I've saved hundreds, too, doing through agents rather than purchasing tickets online. I've used e-tickets for domestic flights and I'd feel comfortable using them for Europe, but not Nepal.

When I brought S & A back, I bought my own ticket RT here, and I think I made reservations here for S & A for one-way tickets back to the US, but waited until we had the visas in hand to actually purchase the tickets in Ktm. We flew that trip Ktm-Bangkok-JFK and drove back to VA.

Let me know if you hear of any deals! :D
