For Civic question, I don't think so.

I think current exam is 10 questions out of 96 questions.

But for your N400 questions and others related to your application, they can ask whatever question it is necessary to verify your application eligibility.

It may be good to be calm down so you don't make any mistake because you are so nervous or something like that.

If you don't have anything special for your application, civic test, English speaking/writing test should be straight forward.

Don't forget to the basic.

Keep smile, and kind to Interview officer. They are human, too. ^^

And keep straight eye contact during interview process. ^^

We all get brain dead from lack of sleep to the point where the answer is on the tip of your tongue, but you just can't recall it. How far is your field office from your home and do you have someone you trust to take you there? Was four hours for us, I drove so the wife could rest, and we went over the 96 questions twice. Since I was a teacher, have this sense as to whether a student will do well, said she will do well and that relaxed her. Have to get six out of ten correct, but since she answered the first six correctly, that was the end of the civics test.

I was more nervous than she was, waiting outside, she did go brain dead during her first drivers test, but felt her tester was intimidating, but here my wife got fired up when the IO was looking for proof in our evidence that she was still married to me in 2008 and even told her, her husband is in the waiting room and she can meet me. But after she told me she wanted all of our complete tax returns for the last three years, said she was an idiot, 2007 taxes are filed in 2008, but was able to find a bank statement with a 2008 date on it with both of our names on it. Didn't make sense to her or to me that a piece of paper is more evidence than me.

Questions we had problems with were naming the 13 colonies and the four amendments that deal with voting, but she wasn't asked those. Two of the six questions were on our state, the other four, very basic, who becomes president if the president dies kind of thing.

Most important thing for you is to have someone ask you the 96 questions and if you can answer 58 of them correctly, you should do well, that is 60%, then get some rest.

Ha, if you typed "I'll have my interview july 29th in newark", as "I'll have my interview July 29th in Newark", would say you will do very well in English.

Make sure you bring plenty of evidence with you, feel from my post and another one with the last few days, they have a bug about tax returns and maybe a utility bill or bank statement with a 2008 date on it.

We submitted our tax returns with the original N400, will they not have them at the time of interview? I think Ill run down to the local IRS office and get another set of tax transcripts just in case!

Good luck at the interview! I have not seen many "I failed my interview" posts on visaforum, so maybe its all just the same old procedural nonsense.

Hi Saby,

I had my interview in Newark last month. Don't worry too much you will be fine.

Be ready for a long wait, this can take all day, I regret to not have had some granola bars in my purse, I had to stay there for 9 hours, I don't think everybody waits that long but the agent who had my case did not go to work and that made it longer for me.

Most of the time I was waiting for my name to be called so I did not feel comfortable to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat.

Still I don't complain, it was better to wait than go home and wait for a new appointment.

The good news is that you take the oath the same day in Newark, you will have your Naturalization Certificate when you leave the building.

I would recommend you to have an extra set of Passport type pictures, just in case, I sent mine with the original application and they still had them but I saw a couple of persons whose pictures were lost or the agent did not like them. One of them had the chance to go and take some pictures and come back, but the other person had to go home and wait for an appointment letter for the ceremony because it was late.

Everybody was nice but be sure your celular is off, they really don't like it when a cellular rings.

Those that reported a good interview also stated they were called in at the time of the appointment or within a couple of minutes. Wife's interview was scheduled at 12:50 PM, she wasn't called in until 1:31PM and was released at 2:02 PM. Really do not know how much time they schedule for each interview, but may be a trend if you are called in late, be ready for a more difficult time. From the times reported here, expected her to come out in 10-15 minutes, that was a very long wait wondering what was going on in there, her IO made a big issue about our evidence, but it was all there. But she wanted to see each and every original document.

Did wonder about he person that followed my wife, even a longer delay? What about the last one, come back tomorrow? Or do they rush those before closing time?

Well glad it is over for us.

Hi all. Think u so much for your help. I'm nervous because I had a bad experience for my first interview in 2005 ( adjustment of status). We sent all the proofs of bona fida marriage with the application and the day of the interview the IO went through the application and asked us to show her more proofs .At the end of the interview she started looking at our daughter ( she was 1 month old at that time ) and asked my husband if the baby is his daughter even if we showed her the birth certificate . My husband didn't like the question , I began to cry .In my country a man can get really really mad if you ask him this question , I think the IO noticed that my husband didn't like the question ,she told us that she can't made a decision at that time . I didn't have a second interview because she send us a letter and asked us to bring only my passport so she can put the stamp on it( we received the letter 5 days after the interview) and so she did . When I was waiting for the welcome notice I received another letter from her saying that I need to get fingerprinted again . The guy who took my fingerprints didn't inderstand anything he asked me why the IO needs more fingerprints after stamping my passport ( I 551 ) . I received my GC 2 weeks after the second set of fingerprints.

That's very rude even in American standard. There is no doubt that she will be punished when you sue the officer.

For civic question, please use civic test materials when you got fingerprinted. I believe the material they handed out at fingerprint includes Audio CD for civic test questions.

All questions are from 96 questions from that material.

Besides, you may want to bring all original/copy evidences with you even though you mailed to USCIS.

Plus bring some extra documents just in case.

Such as latested utility bills, pay stuffs, some family photos... ^^

Wife said she was asked three times if she ever broke the law, anywhere, anytime, or any country, she said NO three times but found it offending.

Ha, if asked is that baby really your husbands, would reply, what can we do to prove it if the birth certificate isn't sufficient?

Yes, it can be upsetting, just look at the IO is doing their job, and if it is dropped there, go on with your life.

Most important thing is to be clam, so be clam.

saby: good luck. Stay calm and relaxed. Most of the N400 interview experiences in Newark NJ DO have been good - from what I have read in the forums. You were just unfortunate to have a bad experience and IO in your AOS interview - you know it takes all sorts to make the world. So be relaxed, and good luck again.
