So I guess the signing of the letters and mailing of the I-129f make us officially engaged, but since there has not actually been a proposal yet, it doesn't exactly feel like we're engaged. We have obviously talked about getting married, and we both know that it is going to happen, but it doesn't feel official yet. I am thinking that he may feel like a proposal is not really necessary at this point... I don't want to bring it up though, because then there really is no surprise and romance and stuff.

I am planning a pretty romantic birthday dinner on a rooftop in Chicago for my baby, and am considering also proposing to him on that evening.

Any thoughts on this?

Anyone else done this?

Any thoughts on a possible awesome little gift for him instead of the ring that is typical of a traditional proposal? He doesn't wear rings or anything else really, btw.

I say go for it! That sounds very sweet and romantic:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Just go for it :)

He actually proposed to me, but I am the one that actually confessed my feelings for him first :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this hehe.

my SO and I are applying for our I-129Fs before being officially engaged. (we figure the intent to marry is there, the actual proposal is nothing official)

He's made it pretty clear though, that he wants to be a man about it and be the one to propose.

I don't see why you shouldn't propose, I mean, you know that he's not goin to say no :) Just make sure you wouldn't be hurting his manly pride if you asked.

How about a six pack of beer with a red ribbon around each bottle attached with a reason for your love?

Do it!!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
