Medical Expenses for your exam?

This maybe a silly question but, because of the status of Canadian health care, do we need to pay that medical expenses fee when getting our medical exam?

does it have to be done at a hospital? or is a doctors office suffice?

actually, now that I've browsed around a little more I can see that it's still just exspensive as ever, for everyone.

Yep you pay out of pocket!! And some Doctors ONLY take hard cold cash--no cheques or credit cards! In one of your packets you will get a list of APPROVED doctors, and you have to see one of them! one can goto their family doctor and get the required vaccinations, usually cheaper that way. As well some doctors want the letter stating you require the medical, some don't care, all they want is your file #. List of approved doctors can be found here as well:

A quick physical, some questions, xrays (ensure you get the film, NOT the CD) and bloodwork to check for disease,which they are more concerned about than anything. Its usually very quick, like most doctors offices, most of ur time is spent waiting and waiting!! Welcome to VJ

I did manage to get reimbursed through Blue Cross (CDN side only) for my medical expenses. I believe it had something to do with me having to leave my Province (PEI) to got to NS for the medical. BUT it is worth a try, so just get a receipt from the Dr. and go to a fast pay place and try! Can't hurt
