Hey there,

I have a couple of questions that i could do with answers to.....

1) What are the jabs that im gonna need (uk to usa) and can i get them done before the medical?

2) Can i get the medical and interview on the same day as it is a hell of a treck for me and getting the time off work is like trying to start a snowball fight in hell

3) I seem to remember on the forms that we sent to USCIS that they ask how long it has been since i saw my fiance. Do they ask this at the interview and is there any problems with it being just under a year between visits. Again this is due to work commitments and funds.

Thanks for answers in advance

I can answer your 3rd Q confidently but not the other two so maybe someone who went through the process recently from the UK could input more.

It's ok if you had just under a year between visits. When my husband went to his interview (K1 interview) we hadn't seen eachother in 9 months, and had only seen eachother once face to face for 2 weeks, 2 years after meeting online. That did not affect our process negatively at all. So no worries on that one in my opinion! :)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Ok seeing as this is not moving to its correct forum....

1 - You need Diptheria, MMR (even if you had it as a child). They say Varicella (chickenpox) but they don't give this in the UK and if you ever had it, this lets you off this in the USA. You can either have them done at your medical or go to your Dr to get them done. This is what I did and he stamped a vaccination book for me to take to my medical. It is often alot cheaper at your own Dr.

2 - It is not possible to have your medical and interview on the same day in the UK. The Dr who does the medical has to write it up, get the xrays developed, check them and then send the whole thing to the Embassy ready for your interview.

I got the MMR and tetanus shot at my overseas medical. If you get your own Doc to give you the jabs and bring proof of these to your medical I cannot see any problem. My jabs were included in the cost of the medical, so I just waited to get them at my medical.

Best of Luck

Adults just need tetanus and the MMR shot... they don't do varicella/chickenpox vaccinations in the UK so you don't have to get that one till you're in the US. But if you've had chicken pox before you can have a blood test for antibodies and you won't have to have it at all - get the test done by your GP and KEEP THE TEST RESULT SHEET. Then you can just show it to the civil surgeon and they'll tick you off.
