Suggestions for phone cards, etc. for Eastern Europe

Hello all. I use a phone card called Seminaya (Family) Card, that I bought at a Russian grocery. I call Ukraine, and you all have me thinking that I might be able to find a better deal than the 6-12 cents per minute.

Any way, the card comes from MasterCall/GS-1, and here is the web site www.GS-1.com. I thought it might interest some of you for the following reasons:

1) Cheap rates to many countries in Europe (maybe other places too, but I can't vouch).

2) You can recharge a PIN code online for 90 days (so you buy a $5 card and can put $50 on it if you want).

3) You can buy a card/PIN online

4) If your call fails to connect in Europe - there is no charge when you hang up.

Now if my math is correct, they do charge more for calls to mobile numbers.

If you have something better for Ukraine specifically (Kherson more specifically) I would like to hear about it.

Thanks

Hello,

IT can be interesting, from your computer to a landline-

Good luck

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't normally use my computer that way. I don't have a microphone either, but I probably have a headset somewhere.

You can call from your computer using microphone and headset, or you can make phone-to-phone calls.

Thanks - I will check it out.

Have you checked out skype? They have tons of new features for mobility. You can use it even from your cell phone, you could set up a separate Ukrainian tel # for your fiance to use and call you at the low rates (with no computer needed on her end).

Skype is still more expensive than the calling cards, but much clearer service & reliable. When hubby wants to call home for a long talk, he still buys a $5 calling card from the Polish grocery store. Recently we found one "Copernicus" that offers 13 hours of talk to a landline.

Olga and I we talk every day on the phone and I do not use skype. I went to cricket and bought one of their cell phones it costs me about $56.00 tax included per month for unlimited talk time and I buy phone cards for $5.00 at 56 minutes from www.phone-card-pin.com. I use the "Simply" phone card and it also tells me at the end of the minutes that I have one minute remaining.
