Our NOA2 was approved on July 1st. NVC sent it out on July 7th and the embassy still hasn't received the case. Is this the norm? Just curious as to how long I should expect for the case to arrive in Bogota? Thanks.

It takes about 3 business days for the case to reach the US Embassy in Bogotá. Try calling the NVC again to verify if they indeed sent it and then call the embassy saying that the NVC said they sent it on X date. Some times the people working at the embassy are not the sharpest tools in the shed and you have to be on them to get the correct information out of them. :innocent:

Thanks for the info. I received 2 letters stating the case has been forwarded and called a few times to verify if the embassy has received the case. Looks like the times vary, so I guess I'll have to wait it out... again.

Have you called the embassy? Ours was recieved within a couple of days but the package from the embassy was lost in the mail and I had to call to find out about it. You can get the ball rolling by going to the following web page.

http://bogota.usembassy.gov

just like that, without the www and it will bring up a page for the bogota embassy. along the top will be a visa button. go to the non immigrant visa part and download your k instructions and if you fiance has her passport, just fill out the DS 2100 that is page 4 of the information package, along with a cover letter and page 1 and 2 of DS 230 and fax it to them. Make sure she has everything else you need for the appointment but you will still have time to get the items taken care of.

My email address is hobboo@hotmail.com if this was helpful, great, if not and you want to ask a question, just email me directly. We are both on a similar timeline!!!

Have you tried tracking the shipment from the NVC to Bogotá via DHL?

Here's the link that will show you how: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98172

Here's the DHL tracking link: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

That may help a little. But don't sit and wait around for the embassy to come back to you with an answer about what happened to your case 'cause it might take months.

Thanks Dennis. Yesterday I called the NVC and was told that they have received our package and we had already prepared the forms, so we faxed them later that afternoon.

Yes I tried tracking the package, but no luck. Thanks.

Well, I called NVC back to verify the information I got yesterday was correct because the woman really didn't act like she knew what she was talking about. The woman today said the embassy received our package on July 8th and sent out package 3 on July 15th. She must be referring to receiving the package electronically because i got a letter from NVC stating the package was sent out July 7th and I doubt the package got there in 1 day. So, I'm just as confused as I was before, but it does look like our package is at the embassy and now we wait for our interview date. Is there a way to confirm they received our faxed response?
