Update on Vacation to Peru

Thought I'd give an update on our Peru vacation plans and see if there is anything last minute that I'm missing...

We are going to Peru tomorrow, flying AA to Miami, transferring to LAN Airlines.

We are staying one night in Lima, then travelling by overnight bus (Transporteslinea) to Trujillo. We are actually staying in Huanchaca for 4 days, then will take the overnight bus (also Transporteslinea) to Huaraz. Staying there for 5 days, taking overnight bus (Cruz del Sur) back to Lima just in time for Peruvian Independence celebration!!! We'll be in Lima for 4 days at the end of the trip and then home... :crying:

All of our accomodations are booked, buses are booked. Our rooms in Huanchaca and Huaraz are VERY reasonable and both places will pick us up from the bus stations.

We have $200 in Peruvian Soles and plan to convert more once we get there.

For clothes, we are taking mostly layers, short and long sleeve...nothing TOO heavy, nothing TOO light. We are packing pretty light IMO.

We have a prescription for Diamox for altitude sickness....just in case....for Huaraz. I've taken Diamox before so I'm aware of the side effects, etc. We're planning on drinking a lot of water....cutting back on Pisco Sours (hehe) until we feel comfortable.

We each have 2 pair of really good walking shoes to get us around. LOTS of walking I'm imagining.

I don't know as much Spanish as I'd like, but I have a Spanish to English/English to Spanish travelling dictionary.

We've looked at things we might want to see, but aren't looking to book a lot of stuff. Just absorb a lot of good Peruvian culture.

I DO want to see some alpacas though...hehehe.

So is there any final advice anyone has? What have we left out?
