Medical is 180GBP plus any vaccinations - http://www.visamedicals.info/us-price.asp - believe that's paid in pounds.

Police Certificate - 35GBP

the visa fee is $131 .. that's payable in pounds or dollars.

then there's the shipping fee of the visa.. standard is 14GBP.

Good question!

Does anyone else have experience with payment of the fee at the Embassy? Is credit card allowed or do we have to take it over there in cash?

I have read that you can pay by credit card in London, but if the machine is down (has been for some folks) then you have to go scramble for a cash machine somewhere. I'll know next Tuesday. My fiance is the one interviewing, but I'm going to be there and maybe get to go inside as some others have posted. If not, I'll be meeting everybody on the streets outside and holding their phones and making new friends. hahahaha. We're going down Monday after work and spending the night in London.
