Hey,

can anyone tell me exactly how is the best way to send proof of our relationship??

is it better to print the photos, or put them on a disc?

and what other evidence should we send?

we are planning on posting everything in the next few days so i wanna make sure we do it right.

My appologies I'm sure this has been asked a million times before.

:)

Hand written letters and / or cards with the envelopes which shows the postmark and date. That is good solid proof.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Evidence submitted on magnetic or other similar type media will NOT be accepted.

YMMV

Evidence submitted on magnetic or other similar type media will NOT be accepted.

Additionally, in some if not all US embassies or consulates, they will not even allow the interviewee/applicant to bring magnetic or optical media into the building. It would save trees and money if we could do so, but the US Government hasn't gotten that high tech in some areas yet. So the short answer to this is waste some trees making copies of anything that substantiates your continuing relationship and proof of meeting in person. Photocopies of card envelopes, letters, photos, hotel/travel receipts (engagement ring is a plus for K1), ticket stubs, etc. Same thing for all documentation you send to your SO for their interview if you won't be able to go with him/her. Burn some trees and inkjet cartridges and mail 'em.

If you are just sending out your initial I 129f petition all that will be required is proof of having met in the last two years. Copies of your passport pages, itinerary for flights and/or hotels, credit card info ...etc.

Most people do send along a few pictures initially and everyone seems to do it differently. We have a 10 year relationship and sent about 6 pages of photos printed on photo paper with explanation of where and when on each.

Do be sure to read over the guides.

Echoing what KimandRuss said.... we didn't submit any evidence of ongoing relationship with our petition, just that we met in the past two years.

At the interview, I'll take a book made with printed pictures etc

There is a portals link at the top of the page. If you fill in your timeline stating which Consulate you are dealing with, when you are logged in, it will take you to others who are, or have, gone through Dublin. If you click on the Embassy info link at the top of the page, you can check others reviews of their own experience with Dublin and how long it took, what was needed..etc.

As I stated early, do read the guides here (link also at the top) and check out the flowchart so you know exactly what to expect. Educating yourself to the process will save you a lot of time and heartache in the long run. ;)

good luck

I didn't send passport page copies at all, just didn't think of it. It seems to me that only puts you in the country though, and you would need dated pictures or something else to prove a bina fide meeting. I sent itineraries and ticket stubs with the same idea in mind.

You're right... it just puts you in the Country at the same time. In our case, we travelled in and out of several different countries together over the years so it was great proof that we travelled together along with our boarding passes...etc.

For many people the passport stamps are unarguable proof that at least you were where you said you were at the time you claimed as it's pretty hard to alter that document as well as Customs info if they looked into it.

Pictures are great but they can be altered.... I am the queen of photoshop and could put any two people together in a picture and date it whenever I wanted. ;)

Hey there mannequinn,

From our recent experience, photos might not be enough, because they provide no real evidence on the TIMING of these photos. Think about it this way, how do we prove that (1) we met in the last two years and (2) we are in a relationship.

For (1), this is the primary evidence, and you need anything that is DATED. So passport stamps of you going to the same travel destination, airplane tickets, hotel bills with both names, or even ATM receipt at a restaurant are all good examples of what you can submit.

(2) is the secondary evidence and can contain photos, emails, etc... i.e. anything whose date could be tricked, will not be a primary evidence.

Get both (1) and (2) and you'll be approved.

Take care and good luck!
