Just out of curiousity, how many of you guys waited for a SSN before filing for AOS? Do you think it matters?

We have to wait for our certified marriage certificate before we can apply, so we might as well take it to SS and get his card and a new legal name with it. Hopefully that's soon. There was no way to request faster service on getting that certificate. The SS card/number will help with financial mingling, but won't make a difference on your AOS paperwork.

Busy week for us, but things should calm down now. There was much housework, announcement sending, thank yous, getting Andy situated around the apartment, etc to do after being gone so quick after his arrival. It'll be good to feel "normal."

Congrats TeeKol!

I applied for my SSN about 2 weeks after I arrived and got it about ten days later, but that was really just so I had it out of the way etc!

Yeah, it seems like whenever someone post congrats here or someting like that, the thread dies. Everybody is too content. Where's Cham when we need her with stories about the mother in law?

NOA 2. Really?

Hope it shows up soon. We're still waiting on the marriage certificate. Had two scammers send us stuff in the mail trying to get us to buy 'em from them. Today I spent hours filling out stuff for the fee waiver and printing off documents to show we're poor. :P

My job hunt is still going nowhere fast; apps up the wazoo, with no calls or emails of interest. I told my boss at my PT job that if I don't get more hours soon, I have to get a second job (I think he got the idea that would be the least that would happen, and they're coming up on their busy season with little chance to replace me). So he claims I'll get some more in a few weeks, but I'm not holding my breath.

Andy and I are doing well though, and starting to get adjusted to "normal" as normal could be given our lack of funds. He's going to start studying again when his book arrives in a day or two, this time for Network+. Hopefully he can get that certification or be almost ready to take the test by the time his EAD would arrive. He applied to volunteer at the library but never heard back from them.

Yes, where is Meri? Hmm...

Our thread gets further and further down the page list. Is there another place we can all start posting so we don't get lost?

I wouldn't know where else to post. It's just quiet for everyone I guess. We're are hoping for the SSN to arrive so we can get State ID and we're working on AOS paperwork but we haven't sent anything yet. I'm looking for a better paying job (fingers crossed for one in the San Jose area, my app was accepted this week which means I made it through step one but I still need to see if I get an interview) but that's about it. My wife is looking at some medical assiting programs (we don't know how nursing in Brazil translates to here certification wise).
