Hi, lostgurl18. I 864 is the contract between the petitioner and the US. Gov to guarantee that the petitioner will support the beneficiary financially. I 864A is the contract between the petitioner and one of his/her household member (your dad and/or his wife, in your case) who has sufficient income and/or assets to guarantee that the household member will support the beneficiary financially.

From what you posted here, it appears that they need more evidence on the financial side of your application. Did your Dad file 2007 Income Tax? If so, did he include the wages from the person that he's been taking care of?

They need your dad's residence and mailing address to verify if he's qualified as a household member. The household member must reside at the same address with the petitioner to be considered a household member for the purpose of filing I 864.

I am a little lost here. why are they asking about your fathers income? it was my understanding reading things on VJ. that is the the responsibility of the USC to make sure the spouse(beneficiary) doesn't become a burden on the US . so they would ask for a sponsor/co sponsor of his behalf. but that is the way i am reading it

How come the consul is still asking for a co sponsor when the sponsor obviously meets all the required annual income? And he is also above poverty guideline. This is my case. Is this the same with you?
