Hello everyone,

This is more a question to those who have requested an expedite. What reasons do you have for it? When I sent my I-130 form I wrote a letter requesting a expedite process because I just gave a birth to our first baby (as of today he is 5 mo) and I have very hard time working, taking care of the baby, paying mortgage and etc. I don't have any family in the USA that could help, so that's why I need my husband here as soon s possible. I think my letter was just ignored, since I have not heart from them. I mean, isn't it a newborn a good reason to expedite? I thought that this would fall under"Humanitarian situation" from the USCIS expedite criteria. I struggling here with my finance and I should not be living like a single parent.

Any thoughts guys? Should I call them and insist for the expedite? Anybody with the same situation?

Thanks for any advices.

Giving birth to a baby is not one of the reasons to ask for expedite processing.

But, if you can prove extreme financial hardship, draw up a letter detailed all the points and it may be worthwhile to get the congressman or senator's office involved.

We have filed an expedite request based on medical emergency with doctor's letter, lab report and letter from insurance company stating that I can't make claim outside of US. The request was basically ignored.

But, when the congress aide got involved, we received a notice ask us to wait 30 days for a decision.

The congress aide continued to bug them and we received a notice stated "expedite request granted" a week later. (Though that's another long story about they sent the wrong approval notice)

Well I requested a expedite based on 'Financial Hardship'. I wrote a one page letter ( it was to the point ...just giving important facts). I sent evidence for every point that was made in the letter. i also sent a couple of pics. i had a little issue with them ( USCIS) but one call to my congressman cleared it all up and my expedite was approved. i am now waiting for my case to be approved...i dont know how long that will take. Good luck.

When you file for an expedite request, you better file for it separately instead of just including it in your I-130 package. Otherwise it seems to have a bigger chance of being ignored.

I would also contact a Senator/Congressman to help you, since they have much faster ways of getting through to VSC/CSC (or NVC). You can find their addresses online. Call them (ask for person handling immigration) and ask if they can help you, and then fax over your letter to them with evidence of your case.

Good luck.

I think person who looks at the expedite has alot to do with the outcome. Some people are more humane than others. Sometimes a case thats not really worthy gets approved, and sometimes cases that NEED to get approved get ignored. Its luck of the draw.

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

Hello again :)

Thanks for the all answers. I called today the USCIS and requested a expedite again. The lady took all the information and said that they will contact me within 5 days with the decision. Around 10.00pm I went to check my status online and guess what i am reading: " On July 2nd your petition I-130 has been approved." So, I am extremely happy and relieved. . I can't tell if they approved it because of my 2nd request or it was just time for my I-130. At this point it doesn't matter for me.

Just want to say that having a baby is a big deal and it should be a reason for expedite process. Those who think that giving birth is not one of the reasons, probably never been in such situation. I don't wish to anybody to raise their child alone. It sucks!

Good Luck to all!

Great!! Congratulations. I agree that raising a baby by yourself is not easy. I totally understand as I too know how it feels raising my daughter as a single dad.
