Is this essential I have my certificate translated in Morocco? It took days on some of my other documents, and we are running out of time!

Translations can be done in the US. Often it is cheaper in Morocco which is why the suggestion is often made to do so before coming to the US. For USCIS it does notmatter where the translation is done.

27 March 2009 Check Cashed

30 March 2009 NOA received

8 April 2009 Biometric notice arrived by mail

24 April 2009 Biometrics scheduled

26 April 2009 Touched

...once again waiting

1 September 2009 (just over 5 months) Approved and card production ordered.

Should you get this translation done in Morocco, be sure it has some sort of stamp or signature on it showing it was done by a reputable translator or translation service .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

ours was done in Morocco, get with the translator and explain the time...ours was very helpful in all of this

Yep do it in Morroco and then have your Husband scan the original copy for the translator and then pick up the translation and scan it and email them both to you. I just sent in scanned copies of everything. I (L) technology!

Yes, it is way less expensive to get the translation done overseas...

BUT

Be aware that some state/govt offices may REQUIRE that your translation has been done by someone registered by your state.

This happened with us in New York.

We were told on two different occasions that papers translated overseas would not be accepted. So for example even though we had his birth certificate in Arabic, in French, and in English from a translator in Morocco, we still had to take those papers to a translator here in NY (and pay the big bucks) in order to have his birth certificate accepted by the NYS offices we were dealing with here.

Just a friendly FYI. The moral of the story is that it may vary from state to state, and you'll want to contact the offices in your area to see what their requirements are.

Nov 8, 2004: Case to Casablanca
Feb 23: Interview; CO said they'll call in 2-3 weeks
Mar 2: Casa calls; visa in hand the next day!
Mar 24: Arrival at JFK; over four hours waiting, but got an EAD
April 15, 2005: Married

AOS
Aug 10, 2005: AOS/EAD/AP to Chicago
Nov 12: AOS prints taken

2006, 2007, 2008, 2009:
EAD renewals often delayed. (?)
Info-Pass officials will say only that "other authorities" are handling our case; we eventually got our Senator's office involved
Spring 2009: A letter arrives, saying his 2005 fingerprints have expired and need to be updated. We head down to Indy and get his prints redone.
June 2009: We FINALLY get the AOS interview letter just shy of FOUR YEARS since submission of AOS application...

July 2009: after the interview, his 10-year Green Card arrives. Alle-freaking-luia.

N-400

Application in progress, 2015. We divorced in 2012 but are still good friends. E is helping organize H's application for Naturalization... fingers crossed!

Just a quick note... i vote you get it done in Morocco, by someone asermonte (spelling?)...

it will be way cheaper... just throw in some extra dirhams, and i'm sure he/she could do it bzerba. B)
