Sunburns

One of the things Natasha has commented on is how in Russia she would NEVER get a sunburn. Here in Omaha, we were outside riding bikes for about 2 hours, and she got a pretty good one on her arms and legs. Any similar experiences? Theories on the cause?

No theories... but aloe vera is very soothing and prevents peeling a bit.

Yeah, I suggested that already but Natasha has so far preferred the traditional Russian remedy - sour cream. If only I liked sour cream, it would be more tolerable when I apply it for her, but then again.......

it's just a guess, but i would think omaha is more southern located, what would make the sunlight more direct (and stronger). (guess that depends from where in russia she is, but i think almost all of russia is more northern than omaha...)

i feel your pain, my nose got burned yesterday, and it wasnt even sunny

thank god my SO isnt here to see, i would get lectured about skincancer again... middleeastern...he doenst know what sunburn is...

Ya know, I never thought about this until I saw this post. Is my SO ever in for a shock when she gets to sunny El Paso!! B) B) I will definately get some sunscreen for when they get here!

SPF 50. for children. waterproof. it's the only one my SO wants to get. and he makes me put it on every half hour.

You know, we are having the same problem here in Florida.

My wife now use Neutragena SPF 85.

My Alla generally gets darker in Russia in the summer. She has only complained of a sunburn when at rest on the Black Sea a few years back. No experiences yet of how the sun will affect her here.

Well its good to be tanned..or she is not happy?most russians burn on sun,unless they have other soviet bloods mixed:)so big hat and sun glasses adviced:)and of course non -comedogenic(does not make skin oily) sun spray:)

We live in Pennsylvannia and Mariya has been sun burned before. We went to the pool about a week ago and two days after she was sunburned and her skin started peeling she was shocked and said it never happened to her before so now we use sunblock
