Hi guys

I had my interview last friday. My visa was approved! It should arrive by the end of the week.

I'm very excited.

My husband went with me. We spent about 2 hours in the consulate.

In the line outside, the guard asked to see the medical exam envelope and checked if it was sealed.

Inside a woman gave us a sheet to fill about the local address where we were staying, and a list of the documents in the order in which they want them to be placed.

Next, we went into a small booth with two chairs and a desk facing a thick window. The man inside asked to see my papers. He went through all of them and removed a few things. We took a lot more stuff than was required, we though better to be safe.

Then he gave us a number and told us to wait, so we went back to the waiting room.

Our number flashed on a monitor and we went inside a very small room. It was a 2m x 2m cube. Inside, two chairs, a desk and a thick window. The consul was on the other side of the window. She returned my original documents and started talking to us. She told us to raise our hands and swear that everything in the forms was true. She asked very few questions, some to me, some to my husband. Asked us when did we meet, when did we get married, asked Chris if he filed taxes for us jointly, asked me if I had had visas refused before. Then she said that everything seemed to be ok and that she was issuing me a visa. She told me to go outside and pick up a green piece of paper and pay the shipping fee. It took all of 5 minutes.

We paid the fee and got out of there to party... we were in Rio after all :)

Thank you all for the suport.I am still going to hang out here for a good while as I still need to file adjustment of status and etc. Also, I want to be able to help the newcomers with my experience, same as the older people here did to me.

I travel on july 2nd and arrive on the 3rd. Just in time for the independence day fireworks!
