When 2 buy plane ticket after Bangkok interview?

When should I have her buy the one-way plane ticket from Bangkok to US?

Do I have her buy it only AFTER a succesful interview?

Should I pay for an expensive ticket that I can change the departure date on?

I'd like to save some money at this point and have her get a low fare in advance at Khao Sarn Road.

But a ticket she can't use is a big waste.

It's been a long 1 1/2 years and I want to get ot overwith. So I'd rather not buy one for weeks after the interview in the event it fails. Even if I did that, how many weeks is enough weeks anyway????

AOS NOA1 4-13-09 for all; I-485, I-131, I765

RFE 4-27-09 Thai official document in lieu of original Birth Certificate not sufficient???

Infopass appointment 5-26-09 at USCIS. Officer thought our doc was valid and doesn't know why the RFE.

7-28-09 EAD and AP sent

Social Security card 8-4-09

interview 9-10-09

10 year green card expires 9-17-19, Permanent Resident Card.

Resident since 9-10-09.

when: i wouldnt buy it untill after the interview is passed

i bought my fiancees ticket the day after she passed her interview, she passed on the 9th, they told her the visa would be reayd to pick up on the 16th, and she lands in the US on the 20th (today!!!) you can buy a ticket for any day you want, it will just cost more. when i boguth mine it was 2 weeks ahead and i paid $950

That's probably a good idea -to wait to buy until aproved.

It's much more expensive to buy a next day, even short notice, ticket though.

We bought Rin's before here interview. I went with her to the Thai Airlines office (Silom?) and made sure it could be changed. It was non-refundable but the departure date could be changed for up to a year without a fee. Probably cannot do that with the agencies on Khaosan road.

We purchased a one-way ticket. The agent tried to tell us it had to be a RT because we had a non-immigrant (K-3) visa. I explained that she would not be returning as it was a non-immigrant visa that allowed her to adjust status to an immigrant. The agent went in the back office for 10 to 15 minutes to tallk to a supervisor, then came back and issued the one-way ticket (about $900 vs. $1,400 for RT).

Well I can wire funds to Thaialnd and she can buy a ticket in Khao San Road for $630 to $815. But the flights tend to be full due to returning students, etc. in August. One agent found one seat for 7-14, but that will fill by her interview on 7-11.

EVA has a seat on 7-15 for 24,050B (28,220B after taxes- $881)

But! I can't buy a ticket for her here because EVA requires her to show a credit card with her name on it at the check in counter. She has no card and I don't like the idea of mailing a card there, even by FedEx.

She wants to come as soon as she has the visa in hand (mid July).

I wonder... if she finds that the Bangkok agents have no tickets -maybe she should try waiting as a stand-by passenger at the airport? Do people still do that in these high security days?
