I've been in a total funk this week. I'm in Farmington, MO right now (yee haw) for my uncles funeral. There are so many relatives that I haven't seen in years. It's good to see everyone, just not in these circumstances. I met some 4th cousins for the first time last night and I'm convinced that part of the family tree goes straight up! No branches there! LOL! Me and my brother kept looking at each other saying "are we REALLY related to them? I'm totally serious when I tell you that were at visitation last night in bib overalls! :o The funeral is at 2:00 this afternoon and it's going to be a full military funeral since my uncle was a commander in the Navy. I don't care where I'm at, every time I hear "Taps" played I just lose it.

Have a great day everyone! Don't forget to tell someone you love them! (F)

Everytime I talk to my daughter, before we hang up, she says 'I love you.' Every time. If she happens to not get it in, she will call me right back and say, I love you mom.

I think today as we end that call, I am gonna say it first :) Jessica you will never see this, but you truly are a very special daughter and I love you.

It's quite comical at times. One of my cousins kept flipping out his partial dentures last night and clicking them against his other teeth!!! EWWWWWW!!! By the end of the night, my brother and I were hoping that we're adopted! LOL!

Boy could we compare stories!

You've heard that saying about crazy relatives in the South? Unlike other families who would keep their batty relatives in the attic, southerns bring them right into the living room. Sounds like mid-westerners do too!

I just had the RUDEST customer service ever. I had done alot of research for Dawn's flowers. I wanted to use a local florist for that personal touch, not just order on FTD's site because this is important. So I call a florist near the funeral home and this lady tells me that even tho it is listed at 3 different prices they only offer the most expensive. Then, without being asked to, she proceeded to go off on me. Yea, ballsy huh? She said well if you want to shop around over $10, then go ahead. Beacause FTD will send me the order anyway then I will fill it to market value.

At this point, I'm thinking I will walk into a different florist just so she DONT get our business. I said thank you and have a nice day and hung up. Finally ordered from House of Stewart like I had originally planned and they assured me it will be beautiful.

Wow you would think florists know because of the occassion how to handle grieving callers with more tact. I'm glad they didn't get the order.

Ever see the movie Deliverance???? I'm scared down here! I was just approached by what my mom says was a cousin. They wanted to check out "that there puter." My brother was standing behind Homar (don't know his name) and was making faces at me. I start laughing and Homer dude gets a very serious face and said "Yur sure gots some purdy teeth thur. Hows ya git yer teeth so white?" WTH? It's called a tooth brush and dental visits cuz.....seeing you don't have many teeth......I'm thinking you don't need one! Yeah, I got the evil eye from mom on that comment.

I was thinking about staying here till tomorrow morning, but I'm outta here after the funeral. I think I need to keep a journal of what these people say and do today so if i ever decide I want to move down here.....I can refer back to my notes! LOL!

Joel and I live a mere 30 minutes from where parts of that movie were filmed. Everytime we go hiking along the AT (Appalachian Trail) we say if we hear a banjo playing we are going to RUN..not walk..to the car. ;)

I have felt the same way as you about MY family. I remember asking my beloved mother once "Are you SURE I'm not adopted or maybe placed in the wrong crib at the hospital?" She would laugh and say "Yes sweetie, you ARE mine...I was there". I still think I'm adopted. :D
