passport, birth certificate - and what I actually found of use is a telephone book from back home, if you can fit it in your luggage - you'd be surprise how useful that might be if you need to handle anything after you are in the States and can't go in person. Good luck and safe travels.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Sounds like you've got everything covered, Penn-KD. Have a great trip! (Don't forget to leave yourself enough time for them to process you.) I'd allow for 1.5 hours to be on the safe side.

Going through Calgary took me 15 minutes, but it helped that it was a slow time and there were only two other people waiting in secondary processing. I'm with Krikit, give yourself lots of time in case you go through when it's super busy.

Rules of thumb when I travelled from Calgary:
  • for domestic (within Canada) destinations, 30-45 minutes; also for domestic connexions to non-domestic flights
  • for US destinations 60-90 minutes (1-1.5 hrs)
  • for international (non-US) destinations, 2-3 hours
prior to departure

My POE at the Edmonton airport was quick and painless. There was no line at Customs- my flight was first thing in the morning.

When I got to the kiosk, I told the customs officer I needed to activate my K3- he took all my stuff and said "this is a good day for you." and brought me to the back- I was handed the I 94 to fill out but when I was called up about 10 minutes later- he already had one filled out for me. He reminded me about filing for AOS once I got to the US and off I went.

I hope my afternoon flight (2:00pm) won't cause me problems. It might be busy at that time, I guess I will see. Thanks everyone!

Is there Biometric fees due at the POE? Does anyone know?

I was at the airport at the crack of dawn. I had to wait 2 hours before the ticket desk was even open- nothing else at the airport was open yet so it was a long boring wait.

After my recent visit to Canada last month- after I checked in at the ticket desk and moved to the back area- we had a half hour wait until Customs was open- they were still on their breaks. The line wasn't that big and it did move pretty quickly.

I have been in line huge lines at Customs there and the wait was never really that bad.

my POE was at Edmonton, it was quick and painless.. All we did was sit in a room while an officer looked over the package we handed them and we were told we had 90 days to get married blah blah blah. As for paperwork, i had my Birht cert, passport, k1 papers and that was it. just make sure to ask to double check your info when they put it into the system because when i crossed they entered my year of birth wrong and i had to wait 3 months to get my SSN and do a bunch of running around to get it fixed... I wanted to punch DHS/INS in the face lol
