I assume that your wife is already in the U.S. After your wife gets her SS#, both of you need to go to the title company. Then you can add your wife's name to the title by an Act of Donation. The charge is $250.00 and $100.00 to record it. The cost might be different at your area.

I was also planning to add my wife to the title, but she was not in the country yet to sign the documents. Plus, the title company can't accept Power of Attorney documents from another country. As a result, my wife will have to be put on the title later after she gets her SS#.

Hi Tyrobe:

Yes, she's here and has SSN. I heard you could go to County Office to get it done and it's cheaper? Is true or not? The cost to go to Title company is high. I need to call around and ask for prices. Thanks-

FWIW, I did it in Hawaii and I went to the County offices. Can't even remember where the title

company is located. I think I paid about $ 20.00. Doesn't a title company just research the title?

The "title" or "deed" is always at the County offices or am I wrong here?

Do I really need to add my wife's name to house title or deed to show USCIS as proof of joint ownership in case for AOS interview or remove conditions interview? Or are other proofs like joint bank accounts, car title, ultilities, cable bill, ect. enough for evidences? Has anyone ever done this? Please share any info/your experiences re: this topic. Thanks-

Now you're talking :)

You do NOT need to have your wife on the deed to show you're financially joined :) Bank/Health insurance/Medical Bills/Life Insurance/Phone/Electric/Gas Bills/Cable Bills/Cellphone Bills/Boarding Passes for Vacation together since she's been here. Having a baby would do wonder too :)

Don't do the deed, too complicated. If they mess up the deed/title of the house, later on you could run into trouble with the Title Insurance Company when selling the house....

Bottom line here is: the DEED with both names is NOT the only way to prove you are REAL!

You are correct, you don't need to add them to your Deed. What chuckandkim stated above is more than enough. I helped my bro filed and that's pretty much everything he had plus their baby's birth cert. They got approved for permanent green card w/o an interview. If you do want to add them to the Deed, you can just go to the county and add them. It's only about 20-40 bucks. Don't go through your Title company, they charge and arm and a leg.
