I noticed from posts past (example: your sons first birthday thread) that you were good friends with many here on VJ, now they have abandoned you...is that because of the wicked web that you weave? Many of those people have long since left VJ and moved on with your lives. You are still here scaring newbies and pissing off the seasoned VJ members. If you are sooooooooo concerned with your story and getting it out there so other people are not "victimized" why not call Dr Phil, go on national TV and REALLY get your message heard. Whats the problem? are you worried about the "skeletons" that are in your closet? Afraid of what Dr Phils team might dig up about this situation? All you do is BLAH BLAH BLAH about how much you want to help people. If you REALLY mean that call Dr Phil and let him air your story...what have YOU got to hide??

Peace

Good point. I have a number of people who can be contacted to hear a persons story and believe me... they publish them which is awsesome!

It would be great maybe Vic himself would show up and tell us all his side of the story, there are two sides to every story. Think of the ratings! :star:

I agree with Tess on that everyone has to own their choices and consequences.

If you go to Africa one time and marry a man you hardly know after a few days, then you had blinders on and really only have yourself to blame.

You wouldn't do it with someone you met in your hometown so why with someone in another country ?

Check the man out, have sources in place to do this in his country before you step on that plane.

Be responsible and have common sense.

If you chose not to do that then why point fingers ? It was your choice to jump in with blinders on.

I have yet to hear one reason such as he had another wife, he cheated, he belittled me,he did this and that, it is always he left.........why ?

Sometimes inter cultural marriages don't work out and spouses leave. I have walked away from relationships and someone left me, that's life.

Because yours failed does not mean they will all fail and no one will stop their petition because of your posts. Why would he risk visiting his son if you have a 2 by 4 waiting for him at the door ? Why complain about him not wanting to see his son if you will do anything in your power to deport him anyway so that the child will never get to know his father ? I am sure he would agree to see his son through a mediator and if he does not have to go through you.

Often there are two sides to stories like yours, not always but what do we know about how you treated him ?

Some American woman just can't relate to the deep ingrained culture of an African man and all hell brakes lose.

I do take offense to the " save your energy for your own approaching storm " snide remark, as usual you are provoking by gloomy prediction

that ALL who do not share your viewpoint will get scammed. That is out of line. You can't simply stick to your story without attacking anyone who disagrees with you. What do you know about everyone's relationship here ?

Whenever there are newcomers to this forum and whenever there is a holiday for some reason here you go with the prediction of " you will all get scammed by Nigerians " nonsense.

Your approach is not respectful to members with Nigerian SO's or Nigerian petitioners.

As long as you post disrespectfully I reserve my right to offer my perspective.

I hope you will stop feeling compelled to predict the outcome of other sub-saharan couples here who are in misery longing to be with each other.

As I told you before I am sorry this happened to you but it was years ago and it is time to heal and move on.

Even though I am married to a Cameroonian, I am highly suspicious of most other women's relationships with africans... funny huh? Just because I have a successful one, doesn't mean I recommend it...

How nice for you, your own special brand of DISCRIMINATION, do you plan to market that to others? Does your African husband know about your DISCRIMITORY side?

Well.... I guess we all know what opinions are like..... I just wish we could have a conversation on here about something as important as this without people getting pissy! I can get defensive about my guy/relationship also but I do have to acknowledge that this particular subject is very real and very emotional to many people.

I'm not being judgemental at all for sure, we all have our own opinions but.... I do understand what the poster is saying. But then... so far, I've understood all the posts. It's a "hot" subject and one to be considered with a very open mind.

idocare puts it out there that all Nigerian's are bad, that would be like me saying that all New Yorker's are bad... defintely not so but all people hear on the news about New York is about how bad it is.

There are good and awesome people in Africa, I know many and thank God I have been blessed to know and love them,

We have gone around in circles with Nigerian bashing posts from Idocare for longer than I care to remember and frankly I am sick and tired of it.

Telling a story about a scammer is one thing, bashing a Nationality and telling everyone their disaster is coming is another. I find it ignorant.

If my relationship falls apart it falls apart but you won't see me on here 5 years later trying to discourage people. I may have my hissy fit for a while and then its time to move on.

I believe instead of predicting to all they are being scammed, it would be helpful to advise on how to avoid scammers and how to look for red flags,

how to have some common sense.

Tell the story, tell any story but be respectful to the VJ community with African SO's.

This exact same discussion seems to have a life cycle, because it seems to come around every few months. It ebbs and flows, but it is the same theme. Maybe it's because new people come, while others leave. I'm just hoping that the discussion remains civilized and mature. And remember the phrase "One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch."

Ah yes, you are so right there is a cycle...it revolves around holidays, yesterday as Fathers Day.

Ahh what a lovely way to celebrate...

LOL, I've seen all the talk show hosts doing their spill about African's, maybe I haven't been in the loop and this is a somewhat new topic for me...... I don't claim to have all the answer's, I'm just passionate about my man, my family, my job and my cause.

Idocare, I think your record is broken, please get a new one. Everytime someone starts a beautiful thread wanting to share sweet memories of their Nigerian SO ...you want to start one dampening the spirits of many. I tried googling ur ex's name...but nothing came up showing any Dr or MD anywhere....only the threads that you started in VJ with your son's name (see below)...I really do not understand why you would even put ur husbands name out there like that regardless if he is a medical doctor or not....sounds insane to me and not fair on his end...sounds malicious.

You may not agree with her post but that was so heartless and ugly. I have been married before to a African man from Guinea and he DID use me for his papers. I have experianced this myself so dont be so quick to downplay her story as being merely a HOT CRAZY MESS. Poeple use people for all sorts of reasons and I do NOT believe that all or a majority of Africans use foreigners for a GC, however it does happen and she and I as well have experianced this heart breaking phenominom. I find someone who can laugh at someones pain to be more of a hot crazy mess than what she posted. And this is coming from one self professed hot crazy mess to another!;)

I think that you are just angry and bitter, you THOUGHT you had nabbed yourself a DR  you had visions of the good life  but he figured out what a crazy hot mess you are  and he left before you could get your meat hooks all the way in him :help: this is for you GOLD DIGGER...

Cant people express themselves anymore? I am married to a Nigerian but have 3 african children, one from Ghana, a Guinean, and now a Nigerian but I still realize the validity of their feelings. I am not saying I agree but I can understand why they may feel this way(stories, gossip, rumors, ) whatever the reasons behind it, they have these feelings. I dont think it helps to bash someones feelings. I could bash yours right now but I try to practice what I preach so therefore I am trying to understand where you are coming from(your husband is foreign, you love him, you are protective of his feelings, you hate injustice and discrimination) Whatever the reason, you feel strongly but so does everyone with a opinion. Cant we ever express ourselves without putting the opinion of others down ? Does your husband know you are judgemental? Does my husband know I think Mexican guys are the finest thing since sliced bread? Or that my temper is still pretty bad?

Even though I am married to a Cameroonian, I am highly suspicious of most other women's relationships with africans... funny huh? Just because I have a successful one, doesn't mean I recommend it...
