Irene lived in Japan off and on for about 10 years. She went to the Japan Embassy to get the process going but was told that she needs a special form from the US Embassy to put in the request. Does anyone have any idea where we might be able to get one prior to her interview? Also her last time in Japan was 10 years ago and teh only place tahts recorded is on the ds-230. Do they always ask for that form? Any suggestions ill be greatly appreciated.

When you file for a visa, the US embassy will send you all of the necessary forms. In Japan, there is no way to obtain a police certificate without the document from the embassy. After you receive the NOA2 from the service center (either CSC or VSC), they will send your approved case to NVC who will then forward it to the beneficiaries home country. Once the home country's embassy receives the pkg from NVC, they'll send the forms to the beneficiary.

Hope this helps.

The Japanese embassy in Ireland accepted the Packet 3 as proof (letter) of request. Maybe ask in your country if they will accept that.

In Ireland the US embassy told me there was no point in coming to the interview without the Police report. So I had to reschedule my interview after I got my Police report which was 2 months later.

hi, you have to get PC if possible before the interview to avoid delay of visa processing.you can still go to the interview even without Police Clearance..you need to go to USE IMMIGRANT section WINDOW X and ask for an authorization letter requesting to obtain PC from japan embassy in manila it took 2-3mos.before you recieved it..jus bring the confirmation letter that u recieved from the embassy and the letter from the nvc having manila case no.bring valid id....noa2 copy you need to show it to the guard at USE and tell the guard you need request letter for PC,,,,
