My advise to you is, YES to 33a, you want SS Administration to assign her/him a ss#, unless he/she has one before. And YES to 33b, Consent to disclosure. If you don't, US Embassy might think of bad impression on you why?

You need to bring it along in case they ask for it. Instruction says, you need to bring it along. On my finacee's interviewed, they don't ask for it, even thoug we have it. Hope this help and good luck!!

Hi Faustine,

Yes, you need to bring the DS-230 part 2 with you to the interview.

Do you already have a SSN card or not?

In my case, I do, so I put "no" to 33a (I prefer to keep the one I already have, I think it will make things easier), and still put "yes" to 33b.

I agree with paothao, I don't want them to wonder why I put no to "consent to disclure" so I would put yes if I was you.

Good luck on your interview! ;)

Pam

Hi Haole,

In 2007, I went to the USA for a year to do an internship in hospitality.

I was through an organism, and was working, so I did apply for a SSN (needed for my bank account, or employer). I had my visa with authoization to work, and so is my SS card ("valid for work only with DHS authorization")

I kept this card in my wallet, even if I know it was useless, but I read somewhere that the number you have is yours for life. They say you can keep your number, and have it updated by SSA. I just thought, it might be easier later (for AOS) to show them my "old" SS card, I am sure they would have look in my history anyways.

Hopefully, I am doing the right thing!! :)
